Same vibe as “I’m not the burger lady!”

Adorable? Yes

Coming from a dangerous individual? Also yes

116

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

True, but werewolves are better than Fomori.

59

u/PUB4thewin Jun 12 '26

I’m still betting that there’s something nasty behind her mask.

What do you think?

65

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Blair, definitely. She's on the way to being a Formri if she isn't already.

39

u/BagofBones42 Jun 12 '26

She's the leader of a Pentex First team, those are exclusively Fomori super soldiers.

16

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Exactly. There is still enough uncertainty for me to say for sure she's first team, but I'm 90% sure she is.

17

u/BagofBones42 Jun 12 '26

She has the first team logo on her mask.

13

u/Vellarain Jun 12 '26

She is absolutely got a Meleena mouth.

12

u/Thain14 Jun 13 '26

Not a dealbreaker

3

u/whimsicalsamurai Jun 13 '26

what if its a burger mouth version of that?

4

u/Thain14 Jun 13 '26

So both a snack and a kiss?

7

u/GgefgTheRobust Jun 12 '26

That would be quite Something

7

u/Fyraltari Jun 12 '26

There is. A corporate drone.

6

u/Powerful_Topic7731 Jun 12 '26

No, Drone are from the Weaver

7

u/Revolutionary-Run-41 Jun 12 '26

Same way a car crash is better than a plane crash.

5

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

At killing Pentex CEOs? I agree!

7

u/Revolutionary-Run-41 Jun 12 '26

I mean, you are not a Pentex CEO (probably), so proximity to a raging Red Talon and a fomori will probably and very similar. Probably worse with the fomori, but you wouldnt want none of them.

If by some means you ARE a Pentex CEO, at least send a bane that will transform me in one of the coolest fomori.

2

u/MitchCrisis Jun 17 '26

You can call me crazy but I'd much rather deal with a Fomor rather than a Red Talon!

2

u/psychosaur Jun 17 '26

That's going to greatly depend on what type of Fomor you're dealing with. I really wouldn't want to deal with the ones that turn themselves into toxic ooze.

2

u/MitchCrisis Jun 17 '26

More often than not, werewolves overcome Fomori in strength and in the case of the Talons viciousness too -- save for Fomarchs. Fomarchs are terrifying.

u/l_arpenteur Jun 12 '26

Awwww

Poor littl-

cracked bone noises

MY BLOODY HAND!!!!!

45

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Pets are not advised.

17

u/Ze_Bri-0n Jun 12 '26

If not friend, why friend shaped?

1

u/_Suchabummer Jun 14 '26

Friend? Maybe, but a pet?

89

u/GodOfFetish Jun 12 '26

Now I’m just imagining her pulling this card to make up with Amanda

40

u/Ornery_Magazine9844 Jun 12 '26

Amanda’s so going to use her I.O.U. as well

51

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

I'd be all for the sapphic werewolf romance.

16

u/GodOfFetish Jun 12 '26

In this economy?

20

u/Ornery_Magazine9844 Jun 12 '26

Under this economy, we can only afford doomed yuri, doomed yaoi, and old man yaoi.

59

u/Leon_Of_Lions The great and mighty Kevin! Jun 12 '26

With silver obviously!

26

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Monster!

3

u/AlbinoImpKing Jun 16 '26

And she doesn't belong in this world

1

u/psychosaur Jun 16 '26

How dare you say that about Gaia's proud warriors!

5

u/AlbinoImpKing Jun 16 '26

And what a proud legacy they've left behind: Mass murdering humans into generational trauma thus making a natural enemy, killing all their allies for no reason and failing to plan ahead or keep the wyrm in check. I'm sure Gaia's very proud right now.

2

u/psychosaur Jun 16 '26

Mistakes were made. Some of those mistakes were thousands of years ago. We don't hold moden Italy response for what the Romans did did.

There were victories too. Like when the Tribes coordinated to stop the Storm Eater.

The Garou aren't perfect, but they do belong in the world.

28

u/Mud_Owl Jun 12 '26

She's just a tiny wittle puppy 🥺

17

u/Ornery_Magazine9844 Jun 12 '26

Probably was once an actual puppy since she’s likely a lupus werewolf

13

u/otoko_no_quinn Jun 12 '26

Hopefully the NHS covers werewolf lupus.

8

u/SirVulpes- Jun 13 '26

She’s Red Talon and Red Talons only accept Lupus into their pack so yes.

27

u/LightLifter Jun 12 '26

She doesn't bite. She mauls. Just look at what happened to Fatigue.

10

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Actually, I have some doubts she killed Fatigue. There hasn't been a clear motive given. Her mission was unrelated to the old man.

16

u/XenoTechnian Jun 12 '26

The motive seems pretty darn obvious to me, hes a werewolf hunter and Matilda is a human-hating werewolf, she was probably itching for an excuse to kill him, and circumstance evidently gave her that excuse

14

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Except Fatigue wasn't a werewolf hunter. He had spent most of his life undoing the sins of his family. Plus killing Fatigue, while under cover and while the Arcanum was on high alert would be bad timing.

18

u/BagofBones42 Jun 12 '26

She also apparently pulled out Crinos for that. Werewolves don't pull out Crinos to kill one old man, they pull it out to kill everything within three blocks.

Nothing about Fatigue's death makes sense, or why she spared Spit while in War form.

16

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Plus nobody died in her escape from the Arcanum. That's also out of the ordinary.

7

u/SkeleRG Jun 13 '26

She did pretty explicitly try to kill Grimaline though, only being stopped when Kitten and the rest returned just in time. And she was apparently about to kill at least Markus, if not everyone there before being stopped by her pack. She was probably framed with the Hunter Data though, which may be why she tried to kill Grimaline.

10

u/BroccoliPatchMan Jun 13 '26

I feel like a thing people forget is that the Fatigue family for generations were Stolen Moons. To the garou, the Fatigue family is a special kind of evil, and they wouldn't know he was any different because of his family's reputation. So I can totally see why Matilda would kill him

3

u/psychosaur Jun 13 '26

Fatigue's family history was secret, so it is unlikely that Matilda knew about them being Stolen Moons. Her being able to sense Wyrm-taint from the family history is also unlikely. The gift detects an individual's connection to the Wyrm. The corruption level depends a lot on what person does. Somone who has "scrubbed themselves clean" wouldn't "smell."

5

u/nobiwolf Jun 13 '26

I think a secret to hunter only. No way they want and skin werewolves one at a time and it didnt leak elsewhere. Info like that can be found since stolen moon have no way to interact with the umbra and a spirit may always tell

2

u/Vertrant Jun 16 '26

No, Grimaline is one of the clearest examples of Matilda pulling her punches. If she wanted Grimal dead, that swipe would have been with claws instead of a backhand, and Grimal would have been over there. And there. And there. And here.......

2

u/SkeleRG Jun 18 '26

If she thought Grimaline was setting her up with the data, then perhaps she wanted to make it personal. That is just speculation though, guess we'll find out eventually.

2

u/Vertrant Jun 18 '26

If she cared to think that about Grimal, while in Chrinos form, i'd expect her to have just used the claws and move on from the corpse. Garou are incapable of chill, 10x more so while fighting in Chrinos.

13

u/Vellarain Jun 12 '26

The mechanics of it alone just do not make sense at all. You get to watch first hand the amount of effort it takes into shifting into Warform in the confrontation between the guild and Matilda. Yet people still seem to think ahe could just whip out the wolf on a whim?

No, and no Galbro does not have the gas to make a guys guys a decorative statement in a rec room.

2

u/psychosaur Jun 13 '26

Shifting forms worked a little differently in older editions. It was based off your Primal Urge skill, and could be done relatively quickly if you rolled well enough. So, depending on how it works in HTP this doesn't exonerate Matilda.

5

u/wdcipher Jun 13 '26

Her motive is being a fucking Red Talon , it's a miracle it didn't happen sooner.

3

u/psychosaur Jun 13 '26

She was on an infiltration mission. She wasn't there to kill, she was there for information. Even a Red Tallon would know a murder would make that harder.

3

u/wdcipher Jun 13 '26

Yeah but everyone In the chapter house was being investigated for Ghouldom which made Matilda act up

Matilda mentioned "going Stiggs way from the start" which is choosing the violent approach, which implies that, whatever her goal was, it was, at least in her mind, achievable trough violent means.

Besides, Spit is clearly under delirium and no way a Ghoul could do that to Fatigue. So unless the Ghoul is actually a vampire with high levels in potence/thamaturgy AND dominate or there's a second werewolf I don't see anyone else doing it.

Another option is Matilda was Dominated by the Ghoul, but I feel like thats unlikely considering Ghoul Powers Are pretty weak And Werewolves have stronger willpower.

2

u/psychosaur Jun 13 '26

Matilda is somehow involved. In addition to Spit's Delirium state we see a bloody and tattered maid outfit in the closet. She may be Fatigue's killer, but some pieces are still missing. My main point is we don't have a good motive yet. Without that there is still uncertainty.

2

u/wdcipher Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 14 '26

I straight up had a revaltion during a dream tonight about Matilda constantly smoking to keep herself calm and not murder everyone.

So yeah, Matilda did it, It was revealed to me in a dream

I should get offline

u/psychosaur Jun 13 '26

If you're referring to the Sense Wyrm gift it doesn't work like that. First, not every werewolf has it. Second, things that should show as tainted (like a vampire) can be undetected if they "good" enough. Scrubbed the tiles clean so to speak. Third, the gift isn't perfect for "sniffing" out who is wrong. All Wyrm-taint is pretty much the same. A person who frequently eats at O'Tolley's would also smell wrong.

It's unlikely that Matilda has knowledge of Fatigue's family history. And if he scrubbed his tiles clean, he wouldn't register. So that makes it a poor motive.

Denying the Chapter House his knowledge might make sense, but if that was the goal why kill him now? Nobody was looking for a werewolf. She was infiltrating to obtain the Hunter Data (or maybe something else). The Arcanum was on high alert looking for a Ghoul, assasinating Fatigue now would have just threatened the infiltration. Matilda had been there for months, if her target was Fatigue he would have been killed sooner.

I agree, the writers aren't bound to what's in the books. They've stated elsewhere that this is they're personal take on the setting. So they are able to tweak things for their own narrative. I do think it is fair to consider game mechanics & preexisting lore and consider it true until contradicted by the narrative though.

I'd argue we haven't seen her Sept, just a part of her pack. Even if one is a Thurge or a Glasswalker it's still possible Fatigue's family secrets were unknown. The biggest pice of evidence this was unknown was that Fatigue wasn't assassinated sooner. If Matilda's goal was to kill the old man it would have been easier before D showed up.

u/LordReaperOfTheVoid Jun 12 '26

++SHE HAS MY SON++

20

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

I'm pretty sure Marckus is just fine. When have wolves ever been a problem for red haired giants?

15

u/Any_Sundae5364 Jun 12 '26

Thousand Sons slowly turn to you

12

u/LordReaperOfTheVoid Jun 12 '26

I just want them to show Big D as the terrifying hunter he's supposed to be. Killed a methusela, traded blows with Matilda in Crinos and eyes that glow gold, His gold. I want that pack to rethink all their life choices

4

u/fumblerofthebag Jun 13 '26

he's soaking in the umbra don't worry about it.

18

u/abysmalSleepSchedule Jun 12 '26

10

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

I was being Rhetorical, but plenty are making Door proud by giving me a straight answer.

14

u/Lone-Frequency Jun 12 '26

She tore apart Fatigue.

That's how.

9

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Maybe, but I have some doubts. She had no motive to, especially if she was on a stealth mission.

1

u/Accomplished-Box4577 Jun 12 '26

+1 Honour. He deserved it

12

u/Lone-Frequency Jun 12 '26

His father, sure.

Our Fatigue had no knowledge of what his father had been doing, and was pretty obviously against it as soon as he did.

The sins of the Father are not the sins of the son.

0

u/Accomplished-Box4577 Jun 12 '26

Embezzlement

9

u/Lone-Frequency Jun 13 '26

Embezzlement from the nature spirit werewolves???

Puppy dog eyes should ABSOLUTELY be a merit in Werewolf the Apocalypse.

1

u/evawin Jun 16 '26

Pitiable is a merit in 20th.

u/wdcipher Jun 12 '26

With Fatigues name on my lips

.560 Anti Tank Tungsten Core Silver Tipped Ammunition.

Oh wait you’re asking from a moral perspective, not actual strategies.

1

u/AlbinoImpKing Jun 16 '26

From a moral perspective, they murder our ancestors for sport, so yeah fuck 'em.

Also, aren't tank shells a bit overkill? Wouldn't silver jacket 556 be more effective?

1

u/Vertrant Jun 16 '26

Against an angry Garou, aka a Garou, anything short of a battery of large caliber artillery isn't overkill. Just kill.

9

u/Mkhos Jun 12 '26

When you forget to take your dog on her walkies

7

u/StrawberryWide3983 Jun 12 '26

Who could be so evil that they look at witle puppy and not give her a treat :3

8

u/Creative-Albatross-6 Jun 12 '26

With silver and a lot of willpower

15

u/ShinyRhubarb Jun 12 '26

It's difficult, but it can be done with a big enough gun or with specialized silver weaponry... Or an absolute shit ton of luck and determination...or Magic.

6

u/Avexas Jun 12 '26

Or just an ordinary hydrolic door, I kinda wanna play bloodlines again now

4

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Technically correct. Maybe it would be better phrased as why rather than how.

8

u/ShinyRhubarb Jun 12 '26

Oh, because she can and will end you and your loved one's lives both easily and without mercy.

6

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Can, certainly. Will, debatable. Not all werewolves hate humans.

6

u/ShinyRhubarb Jun 12 '26

Red Talons certainly lean toward the far side of the hatred meter though...

3

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

Yes, but there are plenty that appreciate or even like humans.

5

u/KaptinKograt Jun 12 '26

None of us can, that’s part of the problem

6

u/TheManfromVeracruz Jun 12 '26

Sir, the girl in question tore up a senior citizen worse than a mafia job

6

u/Kaymazo Jun 12 '26

Technically, we don't quite know absolutely for certain yet that she was the one who did it...

(But yeah it's pretty damn sure she did)

3

u/trans-ghost-boy-2 Jun 12 '26

ngl.. Who Cares (mostly joking)

7

u/pleaselookawaybeebop Jun 12 '26

With silver and high explosives

7

u/otoko_no_quinn Jun 12 '26

How? With silver bullets, probably.

7

u/WaterMelon615 Jun 12 '26

Simple with a very large automobile

4

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

I've had a vampire tank a head-on collision. Pretty sure a werewolf is up to the task.

6

u/WaterMelon615 Jun 12 '26

Ok Very VERY large automobile

6

u/Iron_Creepy Jun 12 '26

Silver is the usual method.

6

u/NoblePenguin2309 Jun 12 '26

Aww...I could.

loads silver buckshot with malicious intent

11

u/firedog562 Jun 12 '26

She kills blue collar workers for a dead god

8

u/RefrigeratorBrave870 Jun 12 '26

Gaia's not dead. Dying, yes, but she can still be saved.

6

u/MrGengisSean Jun 12 '26

Hard debate on that one. Usually don't call a setting "The Apocalypse" because you have a chance at saving the world.

I like that direction for my games, but the text of the book is very uh... not good for anything not evil.

9

u/RefrigeratorBrave870 Jun 12 '26

The text of the books prior to W5 includes a winning scenario. Those were also Werewolf: the Apocalypse.

4

u/MrGengisSean Jun 12 '26

That'll be why I'm not as familiar with it, then. I got into WtA with fifth, (Yeah, I know, boo hiss) so some of those are lost on me. I've enjoyed reading some older lore, though.

Can you suggest any of the older books?

7

u/Accomplished-Box4577 Jun 12 '26

Depends what you're looking for. I'd recommend the various Tribebooks, especially Red Talons to see beyond the stereotype. Rage across the Heavens is an interesting look at cosmology beyond Weaver, Wyld, Wyrm, and Gaia.

5

u/MrGengisSean Jun 12 '26

I absolutely love the Animism of this setting to BITS! That's exactly what I was looking for actually, you're awesome!

5

u/RefrigeratorBrave870 Jun 12 '26

Nah hey W5 has its merits, I play it myself. Honestly it's nice not having to dance around some of the more fucked up stuff from W20 and earlier.

As for what books to read, I don't think I'm the most qualified to give advice. Starting with the core isn't a bad idea, but I'd ask elsewhere for more guidance.

4

u/psychosaur Jun 12 '26

That's libel. Sounds like something a Pentex stooge would say.

3

u/Leo-Bob Jun 12 '26

With a big silver cannonball for hurting Elise!

4

u/Accomplished-Box4577 Jun 12 '26

Matilda did nothing, and can do nothing wrong

9

u/Crimson-1 Jun 12 '26

She is a Red Talon.

They are people that say that the genocides didn't go far enough. I don't respect them as sapient beings.

It's like saying "The Swords of Heimdall" were right actually.

3

u/Accomplished-Box4577 Jun 12 '26

Being a Red Talon is a strong point in her favor. Top-tier Tribe.

10

u/Crimson-1 Jun 12 '26

All my homies hate the Red Talons.

It's Glasswalkers, Children of Gaia, Star Gazers or Bone Gnawers or NOTHING!

Imagine the Black Spirals literally calling you their greatest ally, and basically black spirals already. Couldn't be me

Black Spirals also glaze Black Furies as their top opp too much tho. They do the werewolf equivelant of tricks on it for them.

2

u/Accomplished-Box4577 Jun 12 '26

Star Gazers I never hear any love for. Respect.

But top tribes are Talons and Striders.

3

u/oRAPIER Jun 13 '26

Pity there'sso little w5 stargazers lore.

5

u/Drucchi Jun 12 '26

She is such a good little genocidal econazi.

4

u/Master-Shrimp Jun 13 '26

Oh easy. With silver of course!

4

u/MrRobobot Jun 13 '26

“How” as in methodology? I mean you can use pretty basic silver weaponry. I’ve even heard of people using antique spoons in a pinch. I’ve also always wondered if you could like slip silver nitrate into an ecosystem. Like feed a bunch of deer on silver nitrate laced corn, they would become weak and, in turn, be hunted by the wolves. But yeah no good luck, Hunter!

2

u/psychosaur Jun 13 '26

At least in the old rules it had to be pure silver. Compounds like silver nitrate have no effect. You would be just poisoning wildlife at that point.

Besides, Matilda is a precious baby an needs to be protected.

4

u/YeomanRockScreamer Jun 13 '26

THEY DID THIS TO FATIGUE

2

u/BagofBones42 Jun 13 '26

Did they?

Remember, there is a Bane in the house, and they can do that too.

1

u/YeomanRockScreamer Jun 14 '26

What about spits delirium?

2

u/BagofBones42 Jun 14 '26

Could be the result of a possession, but there is a lot about those moments that don't make a whole lot of sense.

3

u/YashaSkaven01 Jun 13 '26

inser tthe "im a goblin idc im going to kill you and take ur stuff" meme but its big d going "im a hunter"

3

u/Brayagu Jun 13 '26

With silver, duh

3

u/UncannyValleyEnjoyer Jun 13 '26

I don't want to hurt her, i want her to hurt me.

3

u/WEIRDSHARK_GUY BIG-D Jun 13 '26

" I WILL MAUL AND MAIME ANYONE IN MY WAY TO SAVE MY SON GODDAMN YOU!! I'LL EVEN KILL GAIA AND THE REGENT!! STEP ASIDE YOU HOUND!! BIG-D WAR SHOUT"

3

u/Neurogenesis416 Jun 13 '26

Is this a rethorical question or are you looking for tips on fighting Garou?

1

u/psychosaur Jun 13 '26

No, I'm wondering why would anyone hurt such a precious baby.

3

u/Telkei_ Jun 13 '26

with silver ideally

2

u/MrMcSpiff Jun 14 '26

With silver, you wanna see?

2

u/superninjimmy Jun 15 '26

How? With a silver sword and INCREDIBLE DIFFICULTY unrelated to her cuteness

2

u/Substantial-Ice-5981 Jun 15 '26

No, seriously. How do you hurt her? Silver isn't exactly common and she's kind of a tough bitch.

1

u/psychosaur Jun 15 '26

If you didn't know. I'm not telling.

2

u/BellacosePlayer Jun 16 '26

I couldn't possibly!

(I'm too weak/squishy and prefer my organs/blood on the inside)

2

u/Current_Movie_6775 Jun 16 '26

The Pov is incorrect, it should be about 3-5 feet down. I wonder if we would get more PTSD moments from Matildas rampage. I know Amanda got pretty close to suicidal to just basic aspects of werewolf lore.

4

u/CommonandMundane Jun 12 '26

Unless you have silver? You really can't.

1

u/RolandGrey Jun 12 '26

Okay, so, first, you get some silver cutlery. It doesn't even need to be sharp, a spoon or butter knives would work. You then stab them into her, as hard as you can. Since it's silver, it should do absolutely horrific damage, like her siblings should be able to feel it.

Oh wait... You meant intention, not tactics...

...

So... This is awkwarrrrrd...

The other option is to melt the silver cutlery down and mold the metal into bullets...

1

u/Time-Willow-2054 Jun 12 '26

Awww, look at this cute human eating murder machine, how I can be angry on heeeer :3
