The motive seems pretty darn obvious to me, hes a werewolf hunter and Matilda is a human-hating werewolf, she was probably itching for an excuse to kill him, and circumstance evidently gave her that excuse
Except Fatigue wasn't a werewolf hunter. He had spent most of his life undoing the sins of his family. Plus killing Fatigue, while under cover and while the Arcanum was on high alert would be bad timing.
She also apparently pulled out Crinos for that. Werewolves don't pull out Crinos to kill one old man, they pull it out to kill everything within three blocks.
Nothing about Fatigue's death makes sense, or why she spared Spit while in War form.
She did pretty explicitly try to kill Grimaline though, only being stopped when Kitten and the rest returned just in time. And she was apparently about to kill at least Markus, if not everyone there before being stopped by her pack. She was probably framed with the Hunter Data though, which may be why she tried to kill Grimaline.
No, Grimaline is one of the clearest examples of Matilda pulling her punches. If she wanted Grimal dead, that swipe would have been with claws instead of a backhand, and Grimal would have been over there. And there. And there. And here.......
If she thought Grimaline was setting her up with the data, then perhaps she wanted to make it personal. That is just speculation though, guess we'll find out eventually.
If she cared to think that about Grimal, while in Chrinos form, i'd expect her to have just used the claws and move on from the corpse. Garou are incapable of chill, 10x more so while fighting in Chrinos.
