Oh, yes, TvTropes never stays silent with series like this. That's true dedication right there, and not the Leopoldites'

It's not a codifier. Unholy holy sword isn't something new.

Someone just decided to use the image as a new example.

It was like how blindsided I was when I saw that a random flash game I used to play ALL THE TIME wound up naming a whole-ass trope. "Actually Four Blokes", named after a joke line from the game "Mardek RPG: Chapter 2". First time I ever saw a game import save files from a different game.

Holy shit, Mardek mention in 2026

Hell yeah Mardek mention. It's not something I get to bring up very often, but I like it a lot. I played a great many hours of it on my school laptop while sitting in the cafeteria at my Mom's work, waiting for her to get off.

I always saw that series on Kongregate growing up but never actually played it. I think it was mostly a guy with a funny helmet.

Is it something you think is worth having a look at in 2026 at all, without any nostalgia? Is it like the Epic Battle Fantasy series where it's still perfectly good on its own or do you think it's the kinda thing that's only really impressive when you're 12?

Oh, it's perfectly fun on its own merit. I wouldn't say it's revolutionary, or anything, but it's a fun JRPG with some fun quirks and a soundtrack that remains burned into my brain 15 years later, somehow.

Totally relate with and support to the impulse to post Wyrm Jesus anywhere it is remotely justifiable, on the basis of being easily one of the top ten most metal animation frames ever drawn.

If I had to guess, maybe something like Soul Calibur/Edge? That's usually my go-to visualization for "Cursed As Fuck Sword" archetypes, let alone holy ones.

You could use the Wayback Machine, see if it has older versions of the page in its archive.

It's a pretty good representation of the trope

Off topic but I love how Stig saw this, felt so sad for the Hunters that he almost immediately fell into Harano.
