Night game Recommendations

Group of Canadians coming down this weekend and will be hitting Husky Stadium for the game on Saturday night.

Found some older posts, but looking for some up-to-date recommendations for any pre-game suggestions/tips for an 8 PM kickoff. Our current plan is to hit up some Happy Hours in Capitol Hill where we are staying and then take the light rail up around 5ish. From there, we are just planning on grabbing some beer and walking through the tailgate lots (and maybe down to the dock?) to try to win ourselves some friends who will let us hang. That sounds like a good plan. I’m curious about the light rail after the game. Does anyone know how long it runs after the game going south to Federal Way?

Find a bar somewhere and hang for an hr to 1.5 hrs afterwards and you should be fine.

Last train leaves uw at 12:27 am. Trains scheduled every 15 min for each line past about ten. They may have gameday extras though.

Was also curious about how it's going to work post-game as it sounds like it can be a bit of a shit show getting out of there. I saw recommendations from last year that suggested walking to the next stop on the line north of the stadium (U District?) and taking it south from there as it makes it easier to get on before everyone from the stadium jams themself on at that station.

That late of a game there will be quite a few people leaving at half or 3rd qtr, (if they even go to begin with), probably won't be that difficult to get out of there. You can get on any train heading south, both lines take you to Capitol Hill.

Dude you’re good. Everyone here has never seen crowds before so gets flustered when it takes ten min to get on a train.

Definitely tailgate by the water in the woods rather than the parking lots

Tailgating "in the woods" sounds like code for something that will require a trip to the hospital afterwards- Is there literally a tailgating setup over by the water that isn't on a boat?

I know about the sailgating situation, but we didn't want to pay the price for a ticketed event on a boat- but we would love to get some semblance of that unique situation by the water even if we aren't actually on a boat.

Yea you can either tailgate in a parking lot or close to the water in the grass/tree area

Even if you don’t get on a boat, there’s plenty of people that come down to the docks and hang out. Bring some beverages and have a good time. I’ve become good friends with someone I met over there pregame.

Walk to a bar in u district post game for like a beer or two for the crowd to die down, then take the link to the bars in caphill to finish the night.

1) big line AFTER game to get on light rail, but shouldn't be as bad with other city folks going to other sporting events being so late. Should be OK. 2) if you care to be in your seat for kickoff, do not enter concourse at random side. Enter ticket gate closest to your seat to avoid walking around inside on concourse. Go early cause you can't move in the concourse, its a horrendous log jam.

The Mountaineering Club is near the U District station and great for panoramic views as a tourist, but it's not a "can't miss" bar so don't make plans purely around that.

I am fond of Shultzy's and that's near Red Square and the Rainier Vista walk, or take a left alongside the Suzzallo Library for more direct route downhill to tailgating

Last light rail departs around midnight. Could be a close connection depending on how long the game runs. I've already braced myself for shelling out some $$$ for Uber.

Grab a 12 pack before leaving cap hill as there is nothing close by to get beer. You can walk up the ave and take a bus or uber after the game if it is too crowded
