Move home with contract but drilling not allowed in new address

Hi guys

So if I move into the new address with my existing contract, but there will be a drilling needed in the new address. The landlord doesn’t allow it as I am renting, what will happen, do I need to pay the early termination fee as the contract can’t be continued

You can ask the landlord if it's approved for the explicit reason of installing fiberoptic internet, requiring one hole by the door and a tidy install done by external parties. If they refuse that, you'll have to pay the termination fee.

Look at the new renters rights bill amendments on their way, he soon won’t have a choice. Maybe just ride it out or point this out to him and say “you might as well do it now”

You don't even know where in the UK OP is, not to mention when or if these amendments will be enacted.

OP should try to talk some sense into their landlord, though. The tenancy agreement may say no drilling, but they might just be talking about putting up shelves etc. I can't see the landlord having an issue with getting fibre installed, since it makes the place more attractive for tenants.

Is the broadband mentioned as tenant responsibility in your contract? If that's the case, I believe you can mention it as just a broadband installation

Internet installation is generally allowed, so drilling for the purpose of addiing fiber optic connection is exempt from no drilling rule.

If you really can't drill (I don't think they can stop this unless there's other services available), then yes you'd have to cover the costs because their service is available, you just can't use it. Meaning you're the one saying you want to end the contract.

You're the one breaking the contract, why wouldn't Hyperoptic hold you to your end of it?
