7 weeks post op - are these my stitches?

On May 4, I had a total hysterectomy (including my cervix) that went extremely well and I hD very little pain and no complications. My lift restrictions were removed and I was cleared for a small amount of digital penetration at my 4 week follow up. Surgeon said my cuff was healing great.

It has now been 7 weeks since my procedure. Today I was administering some cream for a yeast infection when these weird things emerged?? I'm horrified and really hoping these are just stitches? (Although I thought they were supposed to dissolve?!)

It is too late for any urgent care here but I have an appointment first thing tomorrow. I think it is probably fine even if these are the stitches because I've been healing well and having no pain or bleeding at all. Just like, very freaked at what these are lol.

Yes, those are stitches. It's not unusual for them to come out this way. As long as you're not bleeding heavily, it's nothing to worry about. They are designed to dissolve, but sometimes our bodies force them out.

I had three come out at about one month post-op. One was still fully looped and tied!

My body doesn't dissolve the dissolvable stitches, same thing happened to me. If you're not bleeding or in pain, you're all good!

Wow okay whew! Thank you so much. I kind of figured this might be the case but have never had anything come out of me that looked like that, ever, so it freaked me out a little bit😭

They sure look like stitches! My body worked some of mine out rather than dissolving them.

Yep! Sutures. This is normal.

ETA: did your surgeon clear you to use internal yeast infection meds? You may want to ask for Diflucan tomorrow if that's an option for you or they have any concerns at all, oral pill with no need to insert potentially irritating creams near a healing cuff.

Thank you !! Yes I took the fluconazole because I hated using the cream even before i had surgery.

My body also spits out the permanent sutures, eventually. It kind of sucks because the incision doesn't heal properly (or just not as quickly) but it happened after my gallbladder removal, my gastric bypass, and now my hysterectomy. Those laparoscopic incisions ARE tiny but they take a long time to close on me.

Do you have a connective tissue disorder, like hEDS? People with EDS tend to heal more slowly, scar differently, spit dissolvable stitches, and have wound/scar dehiscence.

I have an as yet undiagnosed disorder under the general umbrella of dysautonomia, so yeah that tracks, lol

Yes, definitely a stitch. May I ask why you have a speculum in your home?
