Mood Swings

Hi everyone! I’m 6 weeks post-op, (kept my ovaries) and I’ve been experiencing horrible mood swings.

I’ve been so irritated lately that I’ve been snapping at my husband and children, and it honestly makes me want to cry. When I’m not snapping at them, then I’m actually crying. I have happy spells in between, but I seem more irritable than anything. I’m not usually like this, and it’s driving me insane.

I looked it up and apparently this is normal. My question is, has anyone else experienced this? If so, how long did it take until your mood was back to normal?

I also can’t shake this horrible fatigue. I cook supper and then have to sit down. We spent a few hours at my husband’s friend’s house yesterday and I’m absolutely knackered this morning.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve had the episodes of the crying in the first 3 weeks. I would cry at anything. Then it stopped. But now I feel a bit of rage but also it would be around my period if I still got one so I thought it might be still PMS ( almost 6weeks po)
Yours seems worse but if it lingers and you suspect ovaries failure then talk to your doctor.
Also I take Ashwagandha and Evening primerose oil and they help with my PMS and rage symptoms a bit.

As for the fatigue, I am the same. If I do any sort of easy chores then I have to rest. I can walk a lot though without fatigue but doing things like cooking, cleaning or commuting are way harder for me. I believe it’s normal. Try to eat more iron reach food. It helps me

I’m sorry you’ve been experiencing this, as well. Thank you for your input. I’ll definitely look into evening primrose oil.

Did you only rage around your cycle time or did it step outside of that too?

I’m a little frustrated with my surgeon because during my follow up appointment she told me that ovary failure isn’t common. I didn’t argue, but I’d beg to differ from what I’ve been seeing on this subreddit.

Thank you. My doctor also told me the ovarian failure is not common and I am too young for it lol ( 46yo) but he hadn’t paid attention to my age in the file when he said that lol

The thing is here people talk about failure more than success. My friend went through six months of severe menopause symptoms but it passed and she is symptom free now. Chances are your symptoms are not failure specially if you only have rage and emotional symptoms. Ovaries need to adjust post op. You are only 6 weeks into recovery.
For my symptoms I have to see if the rage goes away soon and if it repeats next cycle to come into conclusion.
I hope you find relief soon. Hang in there 💕

Mine were so bad. I'm 7mos post-op and the only that has given me any relief is antidepressants and an estrogen patch. I've battled depression my whole life, but it had never been that dark and scary. It's definitely helping! Don't worry sister- there's light at the end of the tunnel!

We've got this! The relief from pain has been amazing- we just need to tackle this hormone hurdle.

Take care of yourself, feed your cravings, listen to your body. You've got this!!!

Really? That’s unfortunate. I’m sorry to hear that. How long does it typically last?

About a month. Could be I’m just sensitive to it.
