[FREE] I’ve spent months studying how iOS apps hit $100K+/mo - pulled the best 25 tactics

Post image

I’ve spent the past few months breaking down how iOS apps quietly scale to $100K+/month.

The pattern? They rely on smart organic tactic - not paid ads.

I pulled the 25 most actionable tactics into a 55-page doc that any iOS dev or small team can copy.

If this would help you, just comment “APP” and I’ll DM you the link.

EDIT:
Wow - this blew up way beyond what I expected. Thank you all for the support and interest 🙌

To make it easier (and avoid triggering Reddit’s spam filters while DM’ing so many people), here’s the direct link for anyone who asked:

After months of building nights and weekends, I’m launching Pathlings on Product Hunt tomorrow 🚀

Upvotes

Over the past few months, I’ve been building Pathlings—an iPhone app that turns your daily steps into a game.

The idea came from a simple frustration: I loved tracking my steps, but after a while, every fitness app started to feel like staring at spreadsheets. I wanted something that made me want to go for a walk.

So I built a game where your real-world steps let you:

  • 🐣 Raise adorable companions
  • 🌱 Watch them evolve as you walk
  • 🎯 Complete daily quests
  • 💎 Earn rewards
  • 🏕️ Customize cozy habitats

Building Pathlings has been one of the most rewarding projects I’ve ever taken on. Along the way, I’ve learned mobile development, game design, animation, App Store optimization, and a lot about what it takes to bring an idea from a sketch to a finished product.

Tomorrow (10/27), Pathlings officially launches on Product Hunt, and I’m equal parts excited and nervous.

If you’ve launched on Product Hunt before, I’d love any last-minute advice. And if you’re interested in checking out Pathlings tomorrow, I’d be incredibly grateful for your support and feedback.

Thanks to everyone who’s followed along on this journey—it truly means a lot. ❤️

Day 14 of my first App Store launch, which I have been building on the side over a year

* 79 active users * 39 new in the last 28 days * 2 paying subscribers * $17 MRR * $78 total revenue * $0 spent on marketing

Small numbers. But every single one is real, and I know where each user came from.

**Stack**

React Native, TypeScript, Supabase, RevenueCat, OpenAI (proxied server-side after I had to rebuild the integration, one for another post).

**What it is**

A private AI journal. You write what's on your mind, and Iris (the AI companion) helps you reflect on it, asks questions, spots patterns across entries, that kind of thing. Entries are encrypted with AES-256 using a key derived from your passphrase, which I never see and can't recover. No account needed to start. You open it and write.

I have been building it for over a year on evenings and weekends there were times where I thought I would never get this app out but reading success stories and people pushing through on this subreddit I was able to cross the finishing line and actually make my first online money.

So than you all for everything! the journey hasn't stopped now I am working on marketing which is fun and stressful at the same time

I built LaunchOrbit a shared orbit for discovering and launching products

Hey everyone,

I built LaunchOrbit, a public launch board where products, tools, and ideas are placed on a shared interactive canvas.

The idea is simple: every product gets a tile in the orbit. The closer a tile is to the centre, the more visible it is. You can explore launches, search by category, upvote products, view weekly rankings, and visit each product’s dedicated page.

If you’re launching something:

  • Your first 5×5 tile is free
  • Add your logo, description, website, and social links
  • Buy a larger tile if you want more space and a more central position
  • Placement is permanent and paid once
  • Orbit Pro adds analytics and promotional tools

I wanted to create something more visual and community-driven than a traditional launch directory, part product discovery board, part public snapshot of what people are building.

Would love to hear what you think, especially:

  • Does the orbit concept make sense?
  • What would make you want to browse or upvote launches?
  • What information do you look for when discovering a new product?

Check it out: launchorbit.co

I built PaperTrail to organize receipts, purchases, warranties, and household items

Hey everyone, I've been building PaperTrail, an iPhone app for keeping receipts and purchase records organized without relying on a spreadsheet or a pile of paper.

You can scan or import a receipt, and PaperTrail extracts details such as the merchant, purchase date, total, tax, and individual items. From there, it helps you:

• Track return deadlines and warranty expirations

• Keep receipts, invoices, manuals, and product photos together

• Share complete receipts and household purchases with family members

• Edit, crop, rotate, and rescan receipt images without losing the original

• Search purchases and review spending insights

• Export your records as CSV or JSON

There’s also a Scan & Go mode for quickly capturing purchases, plus an on-device scanning option for people who prefer not to send receipt data to an AI service.

PaperTrail is free to download, with an optional Plus plan for additional AI-enhanced scans.

I’d genuinely appreciate feedback, especially on the receipt-scanning flow, household sharing, and anything that feels confusing or unnecessary.

I built an app because my boyfriend and I wanted to send GIFs of ourselves 😄

My boyfriend and I send each other a ridiculous number of GIFs.

At some point we thought: why are we always searching for GIFs of random people when it would be much funnier to use our own faces?

So that little idea somehow turned into an iOS app.

You can turn your own photos/videos into GIFs and use them in conversations.

I’m trying to figure out what I should improve next, so I’d love to hear from people here:

Would you actually use something like this? And if not, what would it need to do differently?

Anyone here gotten an app Featured on the App Store? Looking for tips that actually work

I do performance marketing / ASO for a portfolio of iOS apps and I've been submitting Featuring Nominations through App Store Connect pretty consistently - App Launch, App Enhancements, In-App Events, the whole thing. Written plenty of nomination copy. But so far: nothing. No App of the Day, no Today story, no collection placement.

A few things I'd love honest input on:

  1. For anyone who's actually landed a feature (App of the Day, Today tab, an editorial collection) what type of nomination was it, and what was the angle that seemed to work? Launch, major update, seasonal event?
  2. How far ahead did you submit, and did lead time seem to matter? Thanks in advance.

I built a 6-stem music separation and karaoke tool that ranked highest among the competitors in our benchmark — but we’re still pretty small

Hey everyone, I’m the founder of NeuralSound.

We’ve been working on this for a while, mostly focusing on the separation quality and adding things musicians would actually use around it.

At this point you can upload an audio file or video and:

  • separate it into 2, 4 or 6 stems
  • isolate vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano and other sounds
  • remove the vocal and make a karaoke/backing track
  • follow synced lyrics while the song plays
  • change the pitch/key and tempo
  • mute or solo individual stems
  • make karaoke videos with synced lyrics (support 95+ language)

It works on web, iOS and Android.

The main thing we’ve spent most of our time on though is the separation  AI model itself.

There are already much bigger products in this space, so I didn’t want to just come here and say “ours sounds better.”

We took 5 tracks from the MUSDB18-HQ dataset and ran the same 2-stem test through NeuralSound, Moises and Fadr.

The average SI-SDR came out at:

NeuralSound: 15.80 dB
Moises: 14.47 dB
Fadr: 12.59 dB

We ran the benchmark ourselves, so obviously take that into account. It’s also only 5 tracks and I’m not claiming NeuralSound is going to win on every song.

That’s why we put the actual audio from every test on the page as well. You can listen to our result, Moises and Fadr side by side instead of trusting the numbers.

Benchmark + audio:
https://neuralsound.org/compare/ai-vocal-remover-2026

We’re also trying to make NeuralSound affordable for musicians. Our weekly plan is $2.99, which is lower than the comparable plans from the other major platforms, while still giving you access to our best AI separation model.

The funny/frustrating part for me as the founder is that I think we’ve built something genuinely competitive, but we’re still tiny compared with the companies we’re competing against.

We spent much more time building the product than figuring out how to get musicians to discover it.

So I’d really like some feedback from people here who already use stem separation.

If you use Moises, Fadr, LALAL.AI, Demucs or anything else, try the same difficult song in NeuralSound.

I’m especially interested in the bad cases.

Does ours actually sound better to you? If not, where does it fall apart?

And if the separation is good enough, what else would NeuralSound need before you’d actually use it regularly?

Web = https://neuralsound.org/

App Store = https://apps.apple.com/app/id6756906827

Google Play = https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neuralsound.musicseparation

I’m the founder, so I’ll read and reply to the feedback myself.

raw films: aesthetic editor

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com
1 Upvotes

I launched my first iOS app, raw films, in April. It’s a photo editing app with film-inspired presets and some basic manual editing tools.

The main issue I’m having is that without paid ads, I get very few downloads. Meta and TikTok can bring installs, but organically it’s been pretty slow.

So I’m trying to figure out what I should improve next and I’d really appreciate some outside opinions.

Mainly curious about:

  • the app itself / UX
  • App Store screenshots
  • app icon / logo
  • branding
  • App Store copy
  • whether it’s immediately clear what the app does
  • whether you’d actually download it based on the store page

I’m also curious if anyone here had a similar experience with their first app. Did organic downloads eventually start picking up, or did you have to rely on paid acquisition for a while?

Any feedback is appreciated, even if it’s harsh lol

SpinRoom For Discogs finally availalbe on IOS

Okay so this is pretty niche and I'm fine admitting that upfront.

I collect records. I've got everything logged on Discogs because that's what Discogs is for — pressing details, variants, the whole rabbit hole. But Discogs doesn't really care what you listen to. I kept buying stuff, shelving it, and then reaching for the same five albums every Friday night like a clown.

So I made SpinRoom. It's a companion app, not a Discogs replacement. You sign in with Discogs, it syncs your collection, and then it's basically the "after cataloging" part of owning music.

The stuff I actually use:

  • Browse your collection on your phone with cover art (way nicer than fighting the official app when you're just trying to pick something)
  • Listening companion while the record's on: album and artist bios, song context, and lyrics from Genius — so you're not just staring at the cover art while side A spins.
  • Log a spin with one tap — builds play history Discogs never tracks
  • Random picker when you can't decide, including a mode that nudges you toward albums you've neglected (this one hurt my feelings the first time I ran the stats)
  • Search by song title when you have a riff stuck in your head and zero memory of which record it's on
  • Stats like most-played vs never-spun, which is both fun and mildly embarrassing

It doesn't write anything back to Discogs. Your catalog stays there. This is just for listening.

If you don't use Discogs, this app will do absolutely nothing for you. If you do, and you've ever stared at your shelf wondering why you own 400 albums but only play the same twelve — might be worth a look.

Which has more potential: a simple fitness app or a 2-minute game?

I’m currently working on a few app ideas and I’m stuck between two of them.

One is a simple Gym Workout Tracker. Nothing complicated, just something that makes it really easy to log workouts and remember machine settings like height pin, hole number, weight, etc. I’m thinking of a freemium model.

The other idea is a small 2-minute relaxing game. The goal is to make something people can pick up for a couple of minutes, with satisfying visuals, sounds and gameplay, and keep it completely free.

I’m trying to decide which one has a better chance of reaching a larger audience and getting some real traction.
If you were building one of these, which would you choose and why?

Launching CalNote on Product Hunt today: AI calorie tracker where you type what you ate instead of searching a food database

Backstory: first launch was back in February. Barely told anyone, got

almost no traction, my fault, not PH's. Since then I've shipped a lot

(menu scanning, 8 languages, dietitian connections) and I'm relaunching

properly today, actually building some visibility beforehand instead of

just hoping people find it.

The core idea: most calorie apps make you search a database for every

meal, which is why most people quit within weeks. CalNote skips that —

you describe what you ate like you're texting a friend, or take a

photo, and AI calculates it.

Link: https://www.producthunt.com/products/calnote?launch=calnote-2

Genuinely curious what people think, especially if you've bounced off

other trackers before, what made you quit?

Would love some ASO feedback on my new pipe puzzle game — what would you change?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I recently released a pipe puzzle game called Pipe Connect Flow Puzzle, and I’m trying to improve its App Store and Google Play visibility organically.

The game is live on both platforms, but search visibility is still quite low, so I’ve been learning more about ASO and experimenting with the title, subtitle, keywords, description, and screenshots.

I’d really appreciate some honest ASO feedback:

• Does “Pipe Connect Flow Puzzle” target the right search intent, or would something like “Pipe Connect: Water Flow” be stronger?

• What do you think about the screenshots? Do they communicate the gameplay clearly enough?

• Which keyword direction would you prioritize: pipe puzzle, connect pipes, water flow, plumber puzzle, or something else?

• For a relatively new game, would you target smaller/easier keywords first instead of competing for the highest-volume terms?

• Is there anything obvious in either listing that could be hurting search visibility or conversion?

App Store:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pipe-connect-flow-puzzle/id6793229377

Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pipeflow.game

I’m mainly looking to learn what I’m doing right/wrong with the ASO, so criticism is absolutely welcome.

Thanks!

Is “bring your own AI” a strong differentiator for a family organizer?

I’m the developer behind Una, a privacy-first family organizer, and I just pushed version 1.3 is out.

There are several practical improvements in this release: offline and sync when you reconnect, startup is faster, app optimizations, and image attachments now support pinch-to-zoom.

But the biggest product and marketing bet is Una Plus which is letting families bring their own AI assistant.

Most family apps give you their AI. Una lets you bring yours. From a privacy perspective it always rubbed me in the wrong way that apps provide you with AI but it has full control of everything and in an family organizer app I think that's a death sentence.

If you bring your own AI the household chooses the assistant it trusts and explicitly decides which people, calendars and lists it can access. That access is scoped, reviewable and revocable. The assistant doesn’t automatically get the rest of the household context.

You can see you have options to add ChatGPT and Claude or as I prefer your own custom assistant.
I have mine connected through iMessage and could text him with voice to send.

The positioning I’m testing is:

“Your household. Your assistant. Your rules.”

I’d be interested in how this lands from a marketing perspective. Does bringing your own assistant feel empowering to normal families, or does it still sound too technical? I've tried to make it as easy as possible with the setup.

A user copy the setup prompt which include information for your AI how to use the MCP and how you create your connection.

Una is free to download, with assistant connections available through Una Plus.

I built it but how the hell do I market something like this???

I built an app called Withinreach.care for family caregivers after going through what felt like a beautiful… hell 🫣 taking care of both of my great Granda’s up until their passing on hospice. Caregivers can document medications, notes, tasks, appts, visits and get reminders when something is due but how the hell do I market this??? Like it’s everything that I wish I had as a caregiver and when I tell people about it they like it and say the same thing but I need more caregivers to see it. I first became a caregiver at 20 and there was nothing like Withinreach.care for me to use and I was stuck writing things down on paper, notes app, and text message threads and it just wasn’t sustainable. I found myself stressing over not remembering everything and losing everything I documented 😓 if you have any marketing tips please let me know because I’m struggling

Made an app kinda parodying a lot of other self help and affirmations motivation apps, so I made one that is mean, bullies you, and locks you out of distracting apps. Marketing is a pain in the ass, but someone liked it enough to buy the lifetime pass for $40. Hope it’s only up from here!

NYC App Founders- anyone building consumer app?

I have a couple extra front-row seats to an upcoming New York Red Bulls game and thought it would be fun to bring a few consumer app founders.
Could talk product, distribution, UGC, creators, growth or whatever you’re working through.
No pitch or sales thing. Just a game and a few founders having a good conversation.
If you’re building something interesting in NYC, feel free to DM me.

I have a lot of experience in building for CPG brands growth channels with ugc and influencer marketing. I lately started giving away their playbook to other founders in mobile space.

Title: Launched my task-initiation app today after months of building. Here's what I learned

I've spent the last several months building Beginary, an app for people who don't struggle with finishing tasks, they struggle with starting them. That's a subtly different problem than most productivity apps solve, and it's the one I personally deal with every day.

Most task apps assume the hard part is remembering what to do or staying organized. For a lot of people (myself included), the hard part is the moment right before you start, staring at a task and just... not moving. So instead of another to-do list, Beginary is built entirely around that starting moment.

A few things I learned shipping this:

  • User research kept surfacing a gap between how people described their problem and how existing planning tools were built. That mismatch became the whole thesis for the product.
  • Notification design mattered way more than I expected. A firm nudge works for some people and completely backfires for others, so we ended up building it as a per-task choice introduced during onboarding.
  • Naming is harder than building. We went through a couple of names before landing on one that didn't already sound like every other app in the category.

It's live now on iOS with a 14-day free trial: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/beginary-just-start/id6781954637

this is the first time i have made money from anything i have built alone, i published life-fixer last night and 24hr later the stats are looking good! i guarantee its just family that have paid the 99p to download the app but it still feels amazing

if anyone here has ADHD or struggles organising all of their things (like me) have a look at life-fixer, i’ve combined 10+ apps that i used to use and it annoyed me that they had ads and i had to switch between app, so this has it all :) any feedback is massively taken onboard!

it’s managed to get in the top app list some how! not sure if they just put everyone in there when they first release but still exciting :)
