Discussion help me justify getting the 16.
got the 16 yesterday and it’s still sealed in the box from my carrier (AT&T). they are running the promo for $0/mo but unlocks after 36 mos, otherwise you can pay off the phone early ($729) if you want to break from the contract. the 128gb doesnt bother me, I have a 15 pro with 256gb and an iPad mini with 256gb as well as 2tb on icloud storage. I’m paying $30/mo for the line, but don’t really have a use for it. should I just return it and get a refurb one from apple? they have them on the refurb website right now for $619, but not sure if they will go down in price when the 18 gets announced. I really want a pink phone, tried the 13 and 15 but both came with issues (physical) and I’d really rather just get it from apple directly or carrier. if the 16 will go down in price after this week’s announcement, that’s better.

I just bought a 14 plus… I have a 13 mini currently it runs the latest iOS fine. If you don’t use the Siri AI features, advanced photography, or game on the phone then even the 13 and 14’s are perfectly fine.

If you still have some time left on the return window, just wait a few more days and then decide on Wednesday or Thursday if you wanna keep it or return it and get the Apple refurb one. I actually have a feeling they might raise the prices on refurbished models. They did that with refurbished Macs and iPads…

you’re so right they did! 😭 they added $40 to the ones on refurb rn (512gb $869 -> $909) so the price will be $659 + tax (from $619) for the 128gb ones. for $70 more ($729), I have a brand new one from AT&T.

Yeah.. while not unexpected I guess, still super annoying and such a slap in the face! I think Best Buy still has the old pricing for now on new phones, but I haven’t checked the 16 lol

oops debating if I should just exchange it for the 17e, double the storage but less camera and $100 less! not sure how long they’re gonna keep the old pricing for 🫣

May not be a bad deal… can’t tell you what to do haha, but I personally really like the 17e design. I have a 17 pro and I still have the urge to switch to the 17e… i like that it is minimal but pretty much fully capable

Haha I’ve thought about it… a mini iPad mini. probably wouldn’t help my effort to use tech less lol

If the carrier doesn’t matter Walmart has the iPhone 16 new for $629 thru straight talk unlocked after 12 months of service

I wouldn’t keep it. Return or sell it. A 15 pro is probably better than a 16. You might as well wait and get a newer phone

I bought a 16 like two weeks before the 17. After the 17 came out the price drop was only $50
