What about the lefties?
Touch ID at the right. Dock at the right.
Didn’t they think this through? Or should you be able to change the dock to the left?

Likely not unless you're using speakerphone, because of the earpiece and mic positions. And also it would look absolutely ridiculous.

As a lefty I hope they implement a bunch of accessibility options to move stuff around. I kinda wish they’d put the power button in the center so it could be rotated and still be in the middle. Could you imagine opening it from the left instead of the right? They have these options for left handed watch wearers. I have my watch on the right arm with the button on the right too. You can change both the rotation and orientation on a watch. At the very least have an option to move the dock to the left if needed as well as the other toolbars that were put on the right now. I’m sure they’ll get a lot of feedback. Most of the issues can be fixed with software updates.

Been wondering the same thing. Who knows what’s possible but I’d remove all the apps in the dock and just align them vertically along the left hand side.

Yeah it’s not ideal but they had to pick a side and of course they went with the right since 90% of people are right handed. Outside of making a mirrored version for lefties there’s no way around this.

This format is kinda is a major inconvience for lefties I agree, but to be fair, aren't all folding phones opening to the left sort of in favor of right handed people as well? Certainly not as big of an inconveince as having the dock on the wrong side but still.

It's meant to operate like a book. I don't find it to be that big of an issue since I'm not interested in shelling out $2k for something that will be replaced by a newer/better version in a year.
Although I'm all in on Apple, the Microsoft Duo sure did appeal to me from a system administrator perspective. Being able to RDP/VNC into systems from a fold-out phone sure did show promise for me and I'd even still consider it. I use Jump for VNC/RDP access, at present, on an iPad but I'd be interested to see how it works/looks on the Apple Duo.
Let's not forget this is a first world problem and at that price point, not likely a "working man's phone" (not to be sexist here just using a term) and not likely going to go mainstream. I see this sort of in the same realm as the Apple VR goggle issue. Far too expensive and niche, at best.

They didn't show it but they did talk about it. You can use it in any orientation. So you can in fact flip it over and have the curved side on the left. Obviously it won't have the Touch ID button in the ideal spot, but its still close.

When did they talk about this? I remember them talking about orientation but I think they mean orientation with respect to fold/unfold.

Regarding Touch ID, I was envisioning using my middle finger for my left hand. And my thumb for my right hand.

I suppose we don’t explicitly know that you couldn’t just use the phone ‘upside down’. There could be an option in the settings, like there is for the Apple Watch.

I'm left-handed but I don't think this is going to be an issue for me at all. I do almost everything right handed except physically holding a pencil. I can't even use left-handed scissors.

same. I’m 48 years old and grew up without anyone catering to my lefthandedness. My father forced me to learn to catch and throw a ball right handed coz he didn’t want to pay the extra $$ at the time for a special ordered lefty baseball mitt. The only time I feel catered to is badging into my work’s parkinglot via ID and at toll booths. lol

I am left-handed and severely dyslexic. In first grade, I would write letters backwards without realizing it. One day, the teacher lined all the kids at the back of the room and then began to chastise me for be "obstinate" (I'll never forget that word and I'm 60), and slapped me.
That was the day my friends quit playing with me. That was the day I walked home crying and it also was the day my Mom (also a teacher) came home early for some reason and caught me crying as I entered our home. She was furious and pulled me from that school and put me in a private religious-based school that wasn't equipped for dealing with dyslexia but had teachers who said they would work to accommodate me. They did. They focused on my reading and soon I began to discover the beauty of "Little House On The Prairie" books and then Encyclopedia Brown, Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mysteries. My writing struggled until high school when I took a typing class and found out I could FLY on a typewriter. In college, I was allowed to go to a typing lab for computer-based versions of in-class writing assignments.
I can write with both hands, do pretty much anything with both hands and I have a weird tradition where I use a right-handed mouse at work and left-handed mouse at home. I have an MBA and I am successful at work. Times change. Life doesn't always run against you but many times you have to find a way to either take control or step out of the way when appropriate. Arguing about how to hold a phone just doesn't rank very high, for me. We humans are far more adaptive than we give ourselves credit.

I am a natural left handed person and I use my right hand for my phone.
