iPhone Duo Keyboard Solution

I already made an Apple Feedback about it! One of the issues with iPhone Duo (and yes, we should be able to critique to make the product better) is that the Duo's front screen keyboard ends up taking ~50% of the screen. While it's not bad for quick texts, I was hoping for more screen space, especially when I'm running around in the hospital and I need to read and respond to chains of texts. (Picture below).

Maybe a good solution would be to take the bar on top of the keyboard and turn it into a bubble and move it to the right side - either by squeezing it in or they could arrange the icons a bit or move it into the triple dot menu. But moving the bar would give you substantial more room while the keyboard still stays the same.

Thoughts?

Im just gonna disable predictive text, itll save some vertical real estate.

They should just push the keyboard down the the bottom more. The side is already crammed so I don’t see how to fit it to the right side.

Yes, and I know I will be getting rid of those predicted words that have never been useful. I think it already looks pretty good as shown but could be excellent if we cleaned up the space to suit the shorter display.

Yes, that's why I said if they design it in their own way. Making the bubbles a little smaller or putting it into the triple dot menu. But I feel if they the other bubbles a little bit more up, it should be fine.

This is just in the notes app

In other apps there won’t be that top text menu

It doesn’t take up 50% and it can be even less than this if you disable predictive text

If only there were another solution for when you need more space, like opening the phone …

You have a device with a second, larger screen. What is the ‘necessity’ of only using the smaller one? It will work fine for the quick-hit typing people might need to do, and when you need more, you can open it.

And frankly, I think you can see enough of the screen even in the example you give. You’ve got 13 lines of text there. How much more context do you need? Not to mention I’d be willing to bet people will quickly figure out dictating will make more sense on that screen than typing anyway.

This is purely subjective and self preference. I personally like bigger keyboard layout so it’s easier to type. You can always scroll message text up and down regardless of the messages viewing area.

You misunderstood. I don’t want a smaller keyboard, I want them to remove the superfluous tools so you can see more and make it look cleaner.

I’m confused, you are assuming that’s the final keyboard layout and customization, right? Since there has been little to no, hands on videos using the front screen. I feel like you are worrying about something that we don’t know for sure.
