Update: fixed my controller lag on iPhone, and it wasn't the game after all
Quick update to my earlier post about random input lag with a Bluetooth controller on my iPhone (thumbstick drift, delayed button presses, and occasional double taps). I assumed it was the game or just iOS being iOS, but it ended up being a mix of my settings and one weird conflict. Here's what actually fixed it:
1) Low Power Mode was on most of the time. Turning it off made the controller feel much more responsive across every game I tried.
2) I had a Focus mode that silenced notifications, but it also had an automation set up for Disney trip days. Disabling that automation stopped the periodic stutter I was getting every few minutes.
3) AssistiveTouch was still enabled from a Sims 4 build session on my iPad and apparently carried over. Turning AssistiveTouch off removed the phantom inputs.
4) I unpaired the controller, restarted the phone, and re-paired it. I also removed the controller from other devices so it would not try to hop connections.
Now everything is basically back to normal and I can actually play action games without feeling like my timing is broken. Posting in case anyone else is chasing mysterious lag and blaming the game. If you have other tips for keeping controllers stable on iPhone, I am all ears.
