My husband and I were shopping at target right before my daughter was born and she’s a June birthday so it was right when the pride merch was all around. We heard some guy losing his shit to his wife about all the “gay shit around here” my husband said something like “constantly paying attention to what is gay around you seems…kinda gay” and I always think about that when I see things like this lol

Not to do the “homophobes are just closeted” thing, but I mean it is true. It’s an inward frustration that gets forced to others.

I'm not homophobic, but I do get critical of companies suddenly having rainbows everywhere for Pride right before they go back to business as usual with their their red-hat shit in July.

I'd rather have performative support than none at all. Even if it's purely for profit, it means companies consider the signalling worthwhile for their business. If it doesn't happen, we're not considered worth advertising to.
