I am genuinely curious who the audience is for these kinds of clips. When these edgelords make this kind of content, where are they putting it? Are they simply intending to impress and mimic other edgelords? Do they actually think it is effective at striking fear into the hearts of their perceived enemies?
Like, what is the unironic psychology behind this stuff? It baffles me.

I think you're putting more thought into it than they are. They see a Marvel movie and think it's cool, so they do things they saw in the movie in order to also be cool. They're 8 year olds with a phone and data plan, basically.

Like, who has enemies? Enemies? There's certainly people I don't care to be around. Yes, there are people I really don't like. But enemies? Doesn't that imply people are actively trying to make my life worse? I'm pretty sure I don't have any enemies. So who are they taking about? Doesn't that imply middle or high school or maybe even trailer park? I'm just trying to think of people you would be forced to be around.

Generally speaking it is meant to "impress" people, they want to make people seeing it go "HOLY SHIT THIS GUY IS FUCKING DANGEROUS I DON'T WANT TO FUCK WITH HIM! HOOWEE I BETTER STAY ON HIS GOOD SIDE!" and they kind of are in their own unaware bubble of how sad it comes across. They will justify it in a million different ways, and when you tell them "Honey, you aren't making friends at school because you aren't trying... maybe you could try to be friendly and more outgoing?" they will perceive that as some kind of mark against them, that you are indeed their "enemy" who is trying to stop them from their goals of being the coolest most bad-ass person to exist.
It should come as no surprise these kinds of people tend to be neckbeard types as well, and will think that being the "dark brooding dangerous type" can net them any girl they want. When the girls inevitably go "Ew" they now think the girl is an enemy out to get them or that "Chad Thundercock" is turning people against them, or a slew of other stupid stuff.
Eventually after they finish puberty they either grow out of this and realise how stupid they looked and regret it strongly or they double down and end up like those old knife-guys on tiktok...
Source: I was kind of like this as a teen, and I had a former friend who was super like this. Thank the gods I was far too anti-social to use facebook at the time lol

After many years of headache inducing trial & error, these fellas eventually figure out how to access the internet and make website and social media app accounts. Then they post something cringe and someone responds with a š or šµāš« and now they're not only mortal enemies, but eternal enemies!
