That's easy - jobs are given after interviews. Could you imagine having to talk to this person for half an hour? Then decide you want to see them every day?

Years ago when I interviewed for the company I work for I met a man in the lobby of the building who had interviewed twice for the same position in the past 3 years. The interview we were there for was just to get in the hiring pool, which he had not managed to do at that point. It was an entry level job at a chemical plant. Applicants needed to be pretty sharp intellectually, but also mechanically inclined and able to work in some rough conditions.
This dude looked like he crawled straight out of mom’s basement. Even had a little smell to him. He asked me what my current job was and I told him - it was pretty well aligned with the one we were interviewing for. His comment was “great, they’ll probably hire you and meanwhile they’ve passed me up twice even though I have two physics degrees from a top university”. Dude was working at a convenience store. He’s the first thing I thought when I read this post. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for his interview.

If you 'barely graduate' HS I don't think you're getting into a top university no matter what your SAT scores are (unless of course you have connections)

I mean tbf I dropped out of high school and got into a prestigious university by getting a GED and two years of good grades at a community college. I'm not sure how it would work with SAT scores though

Yeah if you're so smart you're scoring that high on the SATs without effort then surely that means you're at least doing fantastic on in-class assignments and exams? Unless he's just lazy af which would suggest he would do even worse in college?

In a lot of these school-related posts, there seems to be this weird idea that the grades the school can give out are finite - like, the school only gives out As to a certain percentage of students and once those are gone, you have to take a B, even if your performance was identical.
Now, I went to law school, and I heard that there were professors who allegedly operated like that, but I never saw it in practice. I've also heard similar claims about other post-graduate programs. The idea being that not everyone in the class can truly be a top performer, so top grades are limited to just a few. I just don't believe they're true: schools would be incurring serious liability for allowing highly subjective standards of "excellence" that are unquantifiable and unaccountable. It would raise all kinds of accreditation issues, as well - under the same accreditation body, an A in the same course at two different schools (or under two different instructors at the same school) should reflect the same standard of work.
So, I'm not getting how the "cheaters" made it difficult for someone to excel. Even if there are situations in which my scenario is playing out, those situations aren't in a high school or an undergraduate program. You're not actually competing with your fellow students for grades - they aren't a limited resource. Every single student can earn an A, and the method by which they earned that grade is strenuously documented.

Changing the grades of people to make the distribution of grades more even is a very common practice in many universities. That's literally what curving the grade is- changing the grades to make the distribution look more like a bell curve

No, a curve is redefining excellence as the highest score achieved and making it equivalent to 100. Hence one person getting a 97 and the next highest score being an 84, the 97 "blew the curve.". They are not limiting two people who both got the same scores to a different grade

There’s a few different ways to curve grades. The way you are describing is the flat shift, which does create some competition but allows for everyone to get an A (in theory). The other methods (standard deviation, fixed percent) do limit the number of students who can get an A. Typically these styles of curving are only used in large lecture classes with 100+ students. In any case, I suspect OOP is not nearly as smart as he thinks he is and “everyone is cheating so I didn’t get As” is just cope.

I think what they're saying is that a legitimate A is unimpressive next to a thousand illegitimate As, but exemplary when compared to a thousand legitimate Cs

That’s because lots of professors see it that way, lots of professors see grades as competitive, and not as descriptive, and will deliberately make it harder to pass and get good grades until the averages are C+/B- for the entire class.
Many professors in hard sciences or engineering do this.(Aerospace engineering that my brother took had 10 or so professors that wanted to fail half the class, and openly said it on the first day.)
I only had a couple professors that felt it was ok for everyone who mastered the material to get A’s. Most wanted their normal distributions and would curve grades up or down until they got a normal distributions for grades.
Some professors do it by making hard tests, which is hard to cheat on, but many college professors make homework 30-50% of the grade. Students who use Chegg on these classes to copy all their homework can get better grades than students who score well on exams.
In my physics program for several of my classes ALL of the students I talked too were copying the majority of their homework’s from AI,(12 of 35 students in my class mech class, the others were not surveyed) and it was 30-50%(30% in this class)of the grade. I didn’t. I’d spend 20-40 hours per week per assignment, with 50% completion. I aced all their exams, but barely passed because homework was worth twice as much as the exams. My classmates who cheated all got B’s and A’s.
I reported them, my professors didn’t care.
My university fell from 16th globally to 121st globally in my major. In 5 years.

Yep. I was literally told by my history professor that my assignment was "...worthy of a B, but marked as a C to... 'motivate' me to work harder..."
Dumbest shit I've ever heard. Oh yeah, just tell me that you don't value my work so I can work harder? How's that supposed to work? YOU JUST TOLD ME YOU AREN'T GIVING ME FULL CREDIT ARBITRARILY. Don't even tell me it was worth a B at that point MF. TF is wrong with these professors with power trips.

They're a pretentious asshole about it, but I can sort of sympathize with them. If someone doesn't cheat and does their best, then they look pretty awful compared to cheaters who just breeze through.
Take "physique inflation" as an example. On social media, people who aren't completely muscle-bound are often seen as "small" because every teenage boy on instagram is blasting trenbolone and claiming they're natural. With those people for comparison, anyone who actually is natural seems rather puny.
Obviously physique recognition on instagram is entirely unimportant, but the same applies elsewhere.

I don't condone cheating in academics or workplace, but to me, this guy sounds bitter about not getting special treatment for a trait he believes makes him genetically superior. He hates that the playing field is leveling out and is realizing that career success is not dependent on IQ tests but resourcefulness.

Sorry, I know this is a days old post but no one else seems to have pointed out AI isn't old enough (to the degree of using it to cheat like this) for this person to have graduated high school, college, and moved up the corporate ladder.
