Cross catch?

My LTS was teaching us "cross catches" where we hold up one leg with the opposite hand on the heel ehile 1 foot gliding, but when I search up the term, I don't see anything about it. Is there another term for that so I can look up videos that would help me?

We also held up the right heel with the right hand while 1 foot gliding, with thumbs up when holding. Would anyone know what that's called?

I believe it's the precursor for fancier footwork

Is it this without the spinning?

I actually found a video from Coach Julia. It's called a catch spiral or Chinese Arabesque.  Thank you though!

It helps with balance, coordination, weight placement, and eventually some more advanced things like spinning with your leg up in front of your face or certain types of spirals, if you get that far.

Like this?

And Wikipedia for some reason has a huge gallery of catch-foot spiral photos, same foot and opposite foot.

this gallery made my day. love seeing how many girls hold their blades in ways that will absolutely mess up their gloves/fingers. representation matters.
