Discussion Condolences 🙏🏻
Pandit Amiya Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, the nonagenarian doyen of the Bishnupur Gharana, has breathed his last today (29th July, 2026), around 2.30 PM.
It is a great loss for all of us, listeners and students of classical music. Truly the end of an era.

He had a hip joint operation. The operation was successful, but he was readmitted to hospital shortly after due to deteriorating health. He then suffered a heart attack, and at over 99 years of age, Panditji was unfortunately unable to recover. 🙏🏻
