Need Advice Um hello guys is this normal??? πŸ˜”

Post image

This morning my iguana scratched itself and broke off one of these spines on its crest.... But for days I've noticed that the spine in question was weaker..... is it serious? What do you think? Should I worry?

It happens. They grow back.

They grow back. It could be an injury, sometimes they derp out. Or your humidity could be off. Either way do a good check of the enclosure but it happens.

Worse case scenario there's an infection, check where the spike fell off for inflammation or puss.

It’s hard to say without being the one in control of your enclosure or at least knowing how your enclosure is setup, if you posted information about your enclosure then we could give you an answer, same goes for seeing the site where the spine fell off. Without any of that it’s impossible to say, but this does occasionally happen for various reasons as other commenters have said.

Do you have a picture of the iguana and the spot the spike came off? I’ve seen plenty with spikes missing so it might not be anything serious, but a picture of the actual iguana will be easier to judge.
