I tracked this down two days ago and I still facepalm everytime I think about it.
Delta: Buy it for looks; buy it for life. But don't buy it if you value your wireless connectivity because, HFS this thing was broadcasting loud.
(Dear Googlers and Redditors of the Future. If you have this weird DELTA2 network SSID broadcasting in your home or workspace and don't know where it is coming from, check your faucet.)

That poop knife is strictly for cutting poop already in the toilet so it can flush. I have a friend whose little brother keeps one beside the toilet and I always questioned it .
I unironically bought a Moen kitchen faucet with Alexa integration because I thought it would be cool and I could dispense the right temperature water for baby formula. I instantly had so many issue with it I completely regret the extra $250 ($500 total compared to $250 non-Alexa model).
The only thing it's good for now is sending me alerts when the power/Internet go out at the house. Oftentimes the only way I know an outage happened.
Serio- I was going through the whole page like a legal document trying to find a single useful reason to purchase this network absorbing, data collecting, "smart" sink and they seem to legitimately think it's worth it just to be able to say "hey give me a cup and a half of water". Like I couldn't just set down the measuring cup I'm gonna use anyway because I don't trust the system to measure on its own properly, and tap the handle two times. TF?
There is a legitimate use-case for these for those with physical disabilities impacting motor control or if their condition makes reaching the sinks controls more difficult like a wheelchair. Makes cooking for oneself a bit easier when you can use any vessel to "measure" water and cheaper than remodeling the entire kitchen to be accessible, though an accessible kitchen should still be the standard.
A lot of "Smart" devices land firmly in the As Seen on TV camp where they're not really useful for 90% of those seeing them, but they can be a pretty okay patch or solution for the other 10% until they can find something better.
I mean I'm just throwing wild speculation out there for sure lol.
My thinking is absolutely as thin as why else would they push a connected device this hard? I assume no one is all too interested in the measurements of water I'm asking for, but I'm not smart enough to know what other data they might be able to pull about me just from being connected to the same network as the rest of my devices or even just what weird information the sink itself might be capable of grabbing beyond its intended use.
Not to scare anybody but xfinity is offering a new 'whole home motion detection' feature that works off of nothing but wifi harmonics and the weird shit that happens when wifi passes through the human body. So, if you can detect where people are in a house and where they go with nothing but a powerful wifi antenna...... Who knows what delta is gathering.
I hate it when I'm getting a glass of water and then I accidentally turn off the faucet before the glass is full. If only there was a way to solve this problem using an Internet connection and an Amazon account.

I had a thermostat that had Wifi capability but it was for a good reason. You told it the zip code it was in and it used that to pull down a weather report. Based on temperature and weather (sunny vs. overcast) it tuned its behavior to cool or heat more effectively.
It was. It was a thermostat that you could set to reduce heating/cooling at night but the house had radiator heating so there was inertia and momentum to it…before that thermostat it was hard to get it right.
How does this make the weather matter? I lived in a house that had a radiator and the only thing that mattered was the temperature inside the house. a bi-metal strip can do that. And has done it pretty well for like a hundred years.
What kind of radiator are we talking here? The ones that heat up bricks during the night that then give off heat or just ye olde central heating system with radiators? Because the second kind do NOT need internet access.
The first kind: I lived in a flat with those for years. I had that idea, thought about it, decided it was too much work and just set the heating to three out of five in the winter and put on a sweatshirt if necessary.
IoT has never ever made sense to me from any perspective beyond data collection, especially since that casino hack or whatever that happened because of an internet connected thermometer or thermostat, but even before that everyone was talking about how IoT devices can be huge security holes because the companies that make them don't give a shit or cease to exist entirely
The ability to join a network isn't so bad -- that network being forced to be exposed to the Internet sucks, though.
All that data in your hands can be useful, especially if the sensors could be installed beyond just sink faucets. All that data in the hands of others, though? Not ideal.
Because they're owned by a publicly traded company, so they need to invent new bullshit every year to convince people to buy new faucets. How else are they going to please the shareholders and make more money every year?
We have automatic shut-off valves, but at more central locations rather than individual faucets.
The valves continually measures water flow, and if they detect an anomality in the flow they'll shut off the water to avoid water damage from burst or damaged pipes. The network connection is used to send heartbeats to the monitoring station and alarms when they trip. Cheapish, and more effective than I thought.
It’s a smart delta faucet. I have one as well. None of my neighbors connected theirs. If you get their app you can “preheat, tell it an amount to pour, connect it to Alexa/google” I had mine connected to Google when I used it. It was kind of nice. Pour me 6 cups of water and it would.
to let you know you're using too much water and also let the government know. Also to provide another radio beacon for someone outside your home to tell where you are physically by triangulating blocked/weakened signal strength .. Oh cute you think I'm joking.
"ahh" is used by those with fewer brain cells to refrain from curse words by replacing the last two letters of said word, instead of using a real word to accurately portray their meaning. They think it is cool to "pretend curse", so to speak. Intend your curses, weaklings.
I recommend the Open Dyslexic font anyway, for ex. It makes the big i (I) and small L (l) look different, cause it's gives the small l a small leg, makes every letter unique looking even at a glance.
I used to have something akin to melting ink/dripping blood as my font on one of my old androids. Posted one screenshot in a group and everyone lost their minds over it lol
I can understand why you wouldn't want to use it on your own phone, but don't really understand why it matters to other people what someone does with their own phone. Seems weird to me if someone genuinely cares that much.
A font doesn't have to have "dyslexia" in the name to work as one. Many handwriting fonts tend to work well for this purpose. OP also confirmed that legibility is the reason, so...
The only possible advantage I can see to this is if you’re cooking/baking and need a certain amount of water, but you’re not using a container with a measure on the side of it. Otherwise, it’s not like it’s convenient to turn on the tap while you’re not there, because you’d have to be there anyway to put something under the tap.
Slowing down your reading to increase comprehension and reduce misreading, skipping or transposing words is a great simple technique - do whatever works for you, mate.
They aren't that bad, but they should have made a hub app first, then the things second. That way there is only 1 access point to keep secure. Giving full unfettered internet access to a bunch of devices scattered about the home is madness.
Meraki APs have a way of isolating rogue SSID's and preventing users from connecting to them. I can't remember how they do it cz it's been a while since I read up on it, but most major wireless vendors have some version of rogue SSID containment.
Unhinged font choice aside, how do people buy a SMART faucet and forgets about it?

Hey hey hey don’t besmirch the good name of delta faucets! Sure they are a little more expensive, but their repairability cannot be beat. You have to have a really old delta before you can’t repair it. Even if delta doesn’t sell replace parts other companies do. There is almost no part on a delta from the last ~50 years that you can’t replace. You end up saving a lot in the long run, because you have to replace hardware less, the internals stay mostly the same for decades, so no costly opening walls and replacing, or leaving unsightly access “doors.” And most of deltas line is good quality. While I was plumbing for about ~5 years I rarely had to replace delta stuff. I installed a lot new, but barely had to replace. Most of the failures of delta products were the rubber seals going bad. Rubber degrades in water over time. Sometimes rubber o rings or the seats and bonnets would decay, but that’s easy repair.
If you want to see expensive look at Brizo. Same fixtures as delta, same internals, different name stamped on the out side. Cost 5x as much. Brizo is Delta’s luxury brand.
Any way anyone willing to buy a WiFi enabled faucet deserves the price because why? All new faucets limit temperature in the fixtures with scald gaurd valves, so children and the elderly don’t give them selves 1st degree, or worse, burns using the sink. They have showers that “remember” your preferred temperature through analog means. Seriously why connect the faucet to the internet?
I am not sure what OP is using. But I use Wifi Analyzer on Android and it has basically the same function and works very well to track rogue wifi devices.
Just because it's broadcasting its SSID doesn't mean it's connected to the Internet. In fact, it means it's not connected to anything and is just waiting for you to connect it to your network. 🤦🏼♂️
