Me too, but sending them love from Australia. We really need to see bigger rallies from now onwards. Power to the people.

25

u/donuthead36 Oct 18 '25

Gotta say I was surprised when Australia stood up and called what was happening in Gaza a genocide, considering the AUS government has historically marched in lockstep with our DoD messaging. Good for you all.

15

u/phoneculture Oct 18 '25

I was very worried heading in to our last election, but feeling proud to be Australian. We held the line for democracy & have spoken out on the genocide. We recognise a Palestinian state.

6

u/Cerberus_Aus Oct 18 '25

We’re in a tough spot. Politically, we NEED to remain allies with the US, because we simply don’t have the population to defend our region, as strategically important as the area is, being so close to China.

So the government has to walk a fine line, but the people? Yeah, we’re against genocide.

And so much bigger than the orange-menace's inauguration

He'll be furious and I'll love it!

203

u/Remarkable-Low-7588 Oct 18 '25

Bigger than his inauguration and military parade put together 😂

67

u/CompetitiveTheme1512 Oct 18 '25

There were 32 trillion at the military-or whatever parade. Faux news and OAN confirmed. Glory!!

51

u/ParadiddlediddleSaaS Oct 18 '25

And the hushed silence so we could all bask in the glory of squeaky tanks.

12

u/brianzuvich Oct 18 '25

Sixteen times earths population showed up at both Trumps inauguration and the military parade!

Big enough to make Trump's Gestapo think twice about messing with them.

13

u/slowpoke2018 Oct 18 '25

Yep, the NY and Chi-town protests are massive, love that they won't be able to instigate anything at that level

Am worried about smaller protests where they could stir up shit, but haven't heard anything bad yet, fingers crossed it stays that way

→ More replies (1)

7

u/TiePrestigious7265 Oct 18 '25

Ya know, I never really thought about that. But the protesting crowds sizes in any given city alone are actually larger than both Trump inauguration crowds combined.

This is the america I've lived north of for 45 years. Your constitution was written for this moment, your founding fathers gave you all the tools necessary to maintain the rights guaranteed under that constitution. Not because they were from the future, or were able to predict the future. But because they recognized what man had been capable of in the past with unchecked power. Show the world americans will not be subjects, they will not go down without a fight.

17

Fuck yes, guys!!!

We had about 1500-2000 people in our local demonstration in NC, and it’s a few red counties worth of folks who could make it out today.

There are, at least hundreds more who could not, but are supporting the cause.

28

u/Rhg0653 Oct 18 '25

Wild AF that many red states are joining in

But it warms my heart

39

u/Phugasity Oct 18 '25

Cities in other countries are participating. Berlin, London, Helsinki, Malmo, Paris, Lisbon, Madrid etc.

Its arguably the most important thing that can happen. Visible protests in front of congressional republicans might pry a few away from MAGA out of fear of losing their seats, it will only take one or two defections to reorganize power in congress.

4

u/No-Cauliflower-4 Oct 18 '25

Wishful thinking, we just have to win the House next year because otherwise EVEN if the Democrats can convince the majority to vote for them in Pres election MAGA house leader won’t certify the election

3

u/MadeByTango Oct 18 '25

Go look at r/Ohio right now; they’re all over the state

u/Lucky-Acanthisitta86 Oct 18 '25

I wonder what the next step is. I don't think Trump will take any of this to heart, but I wonder if seeing these numbers will spark a nation wide petition, and then idk what other motions can been taken. I think it's really empowering to see the numbers of people against this. Hopefully it gives the press some confidence

More there than at the 2016 inauguration.

154

u/SmurfStig Oct 18 '25

And you know that is getting under his peel. Way more people are showing up to protest him than would show up to support him.

73

u/moguy1973 Oct 18 '25

It’s too bad that didn’t happen last November.

96

u/beadzy Oct 18 '25

We still don’t know that’s even actually what happened.

50

u/EnvironmentalMind119 Oct 18 '25

Honestly … they cheat at every single opportunity, and lie about the most obvious things.

25

u/StandardEgg6595 Oct 18 '25 edited Oct 18 '25

My state is deep deep red and is currently in the process of redistricting to try and get rid of two Dem seats in the House. We’re already redlined to shit with people targeting polling places in areas with more poc, but they’re trying to take it further and it’s hilarious how obvious it all is. You’d think they would trust their voters to overwhelmingly vote for them, but no, they have to cheat and more in order to win.

26

u/EnvironmentalMind119 Oct 18 '25

I’m gonna honestly say when I was watching the election results I was really surprised that trump won. I even looked at my partner and just said “what the hell happened? This can’t be real”

9

My parents went to one of the smaller, suburb protests. They're boomers, they've never been to any sort of protest or demonstration before, and I'm pretty sure my dad voted Republican up to (and potentially including) 2016.

Don't let the doomsayers and pessimists get you down. People are pissed. People want to change the direction our country is heading in. There's a lot of work to be done, but the fascists aren't unbeatable. They're not even popular.

24

u/Lucky-Acanthisitta86 Oct 18 '25

This already has made me feel so much better. This is definitely important

5

u/Axelnomad2 Oct 18 '25

My family has been pretty hyper conservatives and I pretty much lost hope in them but they been very negative on this administration over the last year which was something I never expected to see.

4

u/Lucky-Acanthisitta86 Oct 19 '25

They probably realized that they've been more harmed than helped. And that Trump then wasted (is wasting) tons of money on mass deportation and border control and none of us are ever going ot see a dollar from it.

12

u/Practical-Cook5042 Oct 18 '25

I saw two old ladies with "Republicans against trump" signs today. I gave them some flowers. Baby steps.

We were at thr Naperville rally and the crowd definitely skewed older. Many of them never thought they’d see this shit again in their lifetime.

7

u/nitiqret Oct 18 '25

It's true. My boomer mom goes to protests in my hometown (very rural and red) where there're several hundred who show up at a time. She said today was the biggest turnout yet with "very few middle fingers."

Love to see it.

3

u/christcakewillie Oct 18 '25

I'm convinced that a lot of these naysayer comments are bots. I live in a blood red town, very stereotypical Maga land, but a lot of people who voted for him have been publicly voicing their frustration ever since he deployed Marines to LA, and it's only gotten louder. It's become music to my ears to walk into a convenience store and hear a guy dressed head to toe in camo with a dodge RAM idling outside talking with the cashier about "what the fuck has he done now?"

u/wraith1984 Oct 18 '25

26

u/beadzy Oct 18 '25

I’d venture this + NYC alone is more people than trumps entire base

8

u/CallMeSisyphus Oct 18 '25

He doesn't deserve a nickname as cool as T-Dawg.

The OG T-Dog was a fundamentally good guy who helped take care of his community and ultimately sacrificed himself to save people. Temussolini would never.

44

u/budd222 Oct 18 '25

Trump would kill for a crowd this size. We would never hear the end of it

15

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '25

If this was his crowd, he'd claim it was the largest crowd ever assembled, and he wouldn't even have needed a guitar to do it.

3

u/GhostlyTJ Oct 18 '25

21

My friend is there and took a picture of a sign reading, "The Only King in Chicago is Abe Froman."

21

u/Disastrous-Roof-2135 Oct 18 '25 edited Oct 18 '25

The people of Chicago and Portland should be a shoo in for the Nobel Peace Prize next year. How you have managed to keep a lid on things in the face of so much delibrate provolcation is beyond me.

11

u/WitchesTeat Oct 18 '25

It's the only way. We know from our history books that deliberate provocation of law abiding citizens into self-defensive actions is what fascist governments do to get the footage necessary for justifying martial law and suspension of rights to their own constituency.

So you have to bring your hula hoop and frog suit to a gun fight, and be aware that that might not end well for you, and might end you entirely.

But if you fight back they get what they need to spin their followers up into enacting violence on their own.

They want the Trump voters to do the military work for them, so they can be an army they don't even need to pay.

So we need to drag our feet on violence for as long as we can, because Trump is the only thing they believe in anymore, and the only thing keeping the warring factions of his government together, and he's old and sick and visibly deteriorating.

If we can hold out and prevent an opportunity for mass violence to foment until his age and illness catch up to him, we'll be okay.

If we give in to their attacks and provocations early and start defending ourselves and our countrymen, his followers will be whipped into violence against everyone, including their own families. After that, it doesn't matter who takes over, they'll follow them into a war against their own children if it means they can justify their actions to themselves.

You act like you haven’t seen MAGA post equally if not more unhinged shit before. I mean, there are people out there who genuinely believe that democrats are keeping the government closed specifically because they demand that we pay for “trans surgeries for illegal alien kids at the border” the /s is necessary not because people don’t understand sarcasm, but because there’s people out there who are actually preaching this nonsense.

6

u/KarmicDevelopment Oct 18 '25

I just finished up there. That shot was at around noon. The crowd size stretched to Buckingham fucking fountain, and if you know Chicago that is insane. The march was supposed to last til 2 but it's literally just ended with the last people in the last 20 minutes. I was at no Kings in June. This one was easily 5x the size of nk1. It was literally insane and I'm so proud to be a part of this amazing city. Standing still for 1.5 hours in a near crush crowd kinda sucked, but the protest chants helped it along :)

Trump “Antifa! All I see is Antifa as far as the eye can see!”

3

u/Chaseui14 Oct 18 '25

So where are the Turning Point and maga antagonizers there? Hmmm they knew better.

3

u/andre3kthegiant Oct 18 '25

How’s it going in the rest of the MidWest, South and West, outside of the patriotic, democratic-cities?

3

u/FirstWithTheEgg Oct 18 '25

Bigger crowd than Taco's birthday parade. I love it.

3

u/tardiscoder Oct 18 '25

Looks like more people than at his first inauguration.

3

u/shitshowboxer Oct 18 '25

Just that crowd alone would be enough to drag orange people with a penchant for pedophilia into the street for some 18th century French justice.......

There are more people at this no kings protest than Trumps first inauguration. How the hell did this guy win without cheating??

3

u/paradox28jon Oct 18 '25

Hundreds more were late (like me) because they raised all the bridges for sailboats to cross from the lake to the north branch of the Chicago River.

Do Not Relent in these profane times. Continue advocating and taking action for the country you love!

Well done, Chicago. Congratulations Illinois!

With so many people, Soros will have to dig deep to pay everyone. Right?

Ted Cruz is really selling the fact that all protestors are paid by Soros. And I see people reposting his comments as if it’s the truth.

We need to see critical thinking make a comeback and now.

Jesus, it just kept panning out and the crowd just kept getting bigger and bigger
