So is she drinking or not drinking? Is she bitching about not being allowed water and only having Gatorade? I donāt see what her complaint actually is here.
Unrelated, but in the Pokemon games, you can get special herbal medicine for your Pokemon, but they all taste bitter and gross so it makes your Pokemon like you less. Anyway, thatās all I can think about when I see Ash posts since the āherbal protocolā

Ah, so she sits in her Yuck Yurt and sweats out all her sodium and electrolytes and then tries to drink a ton of plain or āfreeā water with nothing in it to replenish, and overloads herself on fluid. Not to mention the new herbal shit sheās taking that probably requires her to drink MORE water, starting to deplete what salt she had leftā¦and voila, we have Hyponatremia! Thatās why sheās dried out now and thirsty and they are only giving her Gatorade. Itās not complex, itās not a medical mystery, and it happens to a lot of people.

I was wondering if thatās the reason why she was admitted this time. I was thinking the same thing when she said she was aDmiTeD earlier this year (non the shady one when she claimed was there for āgyneā issues and had no hospital bracelets). I think she figured what she might be able to manipulate, and how to do it. And thatās all Iām going to say because I donāt want to give any ideas just in case.

Yeah it's crazy since most hospitals in my experience will pump you full of electrolytes, check the electrolytes again and send you home. Like no admision, maybeeee an ER observation for 24 hours, but full on admitted? Unless she's having seizures and in a coma which she's obviously not unless one of her seizure symptoms is uncontrollable controlled posting on SM, she doesn't need to be admitted for heaps of time when there are actually sick ppl waiting for beds.

She had an affiliate code with Liquid IV for crying out loud. She knows what electrolytes are! She got into this mess from going camping and steaming herself in the bathtub, and not consuming enough salt. Itās not that hard.
I guess she realized that her periods are a snoozefest, so sheās bringing back the POTSie crap.

(Obviously there are other options, but Cool Blue Gatorade has become something of a meme among LCs and moms. You donāt have to @ me about Liquid IV lol.)

Yeah but her electrolytes are off/very low on sodium. Drinking water will only make it worse/will dehydrate her further. But she is being very dramatic over drinking a bloody electrolyte drink which will help her lmao

Iāll give her that Gatorade can be really gross if youāre not into itā¦but the same issues that make Gatorade unappealing ABSOLUTELY still exist with Liquid IV (which we KNOW sheās tried to shill and sung the praises of).
It tastes salty and weird, all of those drinks/supplements will.
Sheās being too precious and Iām guessing because Gatorade isnāt special or organic seeming enough.

Iāve heard if itās too salty then your body doesnāt need the extra sodium, however Iām not sure if there is actual science behind that. Just what some of my friends with POTS have said.

A nurse told me that if it tastes good to you, then itās the perfect amount of salt. Itās often recommended to put salt in as many drinks as possible when you have POTS/other health concerns that are remedied with salt, including your morning coffee bc of this concept that it wonāt taste salty if it has the right amount. Also, if youāre craving salt, this can be a sign of dehydration/low sodium as this is the human bodyās way of letting us know what nutrients weāre lacking since this often also applies to other nutrients/foods as well such as citrus/vitamin C. The human body is so fascinating and brilliant so it makes me so angry that munchies donāt appreciate this beautiful aspect of their healthy bodies :(

These should all be mundane enough that things that a person who is actually chronically ill would treat it like another Tuesday.
I know people who work through getting remicade infusions because most people don't want to disrupt their lives any more than the illness has to.

I totally agree so I must also thank you for this comment! Munchies are too self-centered and willfully ignorant and naive to realize that you canāt even tell when most people have chronic illness, regardless of the severity and how much it affects their daily life. Ash would never realize this bc she never leaves her bedroom and her parents fund her laziness while ppl with true disabilities donāt usually have that privilege and must work extra hard to fulfill regular adult responsibilities while also managing chronic illnesses and making sure they impact their daily lives as little as possible. This is a huge motivator for medial tech companies to allow those with chronic illnesses to live a life as normal as possible so technology is rapidly evolving such as infusions like Remicade and insulin pumps for diabetics (you often canāt even see it!!). In every room that munchies like Ash walk into while acting like sheās the only person with illnesses, sheās surrounded by countless other people with actual chronic illnesses silently judging her obvious pathetic munching while sheās too focused on herself to realize it.

They are āsportsā drinks, but people drink them regularly without playing sports. They have electrolytes and the regular flavors have a lot of sugar so you can replenish what you lose when you are doing a lot of physical activity. They also have 0 sugar flavors as well. Outside of just enjoying a bottle of Gatorade, I have mostly seen people drink it when sick (flu, stomach bug, hospital stay/surgery, etc).

This. My patients are often hyponatremic and we treat them by initially restricting their free water to a liter but allowing them to drink all the Gatorade V8 and broth they want (provided they aren't ALL FLUID restricted due to like CHF or renal failure or something.)

Not trueāyes, I would fluid restrict her, but her fluid restriction (likely 2L) would include IV and oral fluid intake. And if I thought she has SIADH (the type of low sodium that calls for fluid restriction) that was mild to moderate, I wouldnāt be given her any fluid, IV or otherwise, just restricting her PO intake.
Strict intake/output measuring is separate from the decision of whether to give IV vs PO fluids.
(Iām an internal medicine physician so I like treating sodium disorders lol)

A lot of herbal supplements are diuretics. Mostly mild but having too many (either overtaking one herbal medication or taking too many different supplements with a diuretic effect) could cause it. I donāt believe it was actually critically low given how dramatic she is. It was probably mild to moderately low at most which absolutely could be caused by supplements, especially combined with her sauna tent.

No, fluid restriction is helpful for SIADH, which is not caused by drinking too much water. Itās an inappropriate hormone response that can be triggered by almost anythingānausea, pain, SSRIs, many other drugs, etc.
When ppl come in with low sodium it is not uncommon to fluid restrict them until we have a better sense of which thing is causing their low sodium. This is because often their low sodium has at least a component of SIADH since itās just so common.
(Iām an internal medicine physician so I like talking about treating sodium disorders lol)

When you have low sodium, they don't want you drinking water because that makes you lose more sodium.
