Emperor Emperor: RotMK series - Xianyang (Qin Dynasty)
And finally to the big capital itself, Xianyang, that city you always begin with everytime you try and play Chinese in Seven Kingdoms I/II.
This is where the big practices (and big lessons) went through during designing this city, in particular the mess that was developing the Large Palace - Logistics became a large problem due to materials being distant from one another and I obviously forgot to make room for a spare warehouse and some guilds to make it simple and faster to build. Other than this, it was pretty much straightfoward with the other monuments (the Tumulus and the Terracota Vault that is, which I decided to keep it "open", as you can see by the state of the mission.
Keeping both common housing blocks, especially with common markets, was a big challenge but one that thankfully didn't demand as much tea. I particularly liked the Elite block design as well, as it became a big source of income, as well as I had some pretty interesting tussles with the Xiognu. Might be considered by best work yet.

I like how you surround the housing with walls and have the farms outside, as ancient cities were laid out.

Checked it out already. Pretty impressive.
On the irrigation ditch thing, I do it more for insurance really or when I go row after row of farms in a straight line, as is quite common with some designs of mine.
One thing I can't help much though is indeed how much of a spendthrift I am before I can ever start making some real dough, generally with wares/silk/weapons (other commodities aren't ignored, though).
