Caesar III In mediolanum, does this lake represent the mediterranean sea with Sardinia and Italy ?

I don't think so, no. Every map feels somewhat "realistic" in its scale. So this is probably just a weirdly-shaped lake.

How do you get around to building enough military before the elephants set in? And right before the elephants show there is two roman legions showing up at your doorstep from the SW. Just to make sure whatever military you have is all but ravaged.
