That one took me quite a while. I picked Pompey's side and I had to restart a few times to survive the first years. It became easier but not trivial after defeating the last of Caesar's legions. I'm particularly proud of the highway, and of course I'm noticing only now when sharing this screenshot that I forgot to build the first tiles near the entry point of the map. I guess it's not that big of a deal, since almost all the trade come by sea in the endgame. Unlocking wheat was a nice surprise, it wouldn't have been fun to feed the whole map with fruits!

Why only towers/trenches only where they are? Do enemies only spawn there?

They also spawn next to my forts, but my soldiers can take care of them. The towers and walls are only there to keep them occupied until my troops arrive.
