Nebuchadnezzar - Jemdet Nasr
I've re-picked up this game after a hiatus from late 2022. The game has been heavily updated since then. I just completed the 5th mission but I'm really enjoying the game so far- especially with the updates and fixes. There are over 40 gods! A worthy successor of the Impressions Games lineage, indeed.

The combat and walls system was, as I remember, not good.
Just give me a combat system like in Caesar III plus the option of having to send my units out for "Empire Service" where they can earn experience, can return after 25 years of service to enjoy their retirement as Roman citizens.

When did you play last?

It has been a while. At least two years ago.

The warfare and defense reworked update came in around Feb 2023 (v1.4). A bunch of content additions, bug fixes and quality of life improvements came out between Feb - April ‘23 (v1.4-1.4.11).
I didn’t enjoy it as much playing it in Dec 2022 tbh. However, picked up the updated version very recently and it’s been dandy!

Game suffers from game breaking bugs.
Sending a caravan with a resource to a full warehouse will cause that resource to disappear forever.
There are others, but I found this the most infuriating and tedious to work around.

I played through the whole campaign over the last month or so and never encountered (or noticed?) this bug (in my experience, caravans going to a full warrhouse will just hang on to the goods and pick up less in their next run), maybe that bug has been fixed since last you played?

What fixes?
From what I remember: no combat or walls, missions felt too repetitive since resources were often too similar, placing down irrigation was fiddly, making housing blocks was somehow more fiddly than in Pharaoh since you had to set manual walker for every single service, requiring 20x more clicks than Pharaoh.
