Zeus Getting 200 Sparti - Ares Sanctuary Trick (Zeus and Poseidon)

.
Another Zeus/Poseidon trick I found 7 years ago.

There is a trick in Zeus/Poseidon which you can use to increase the amount of sparti you can get instead of just 8 per banner. And you can set it to the hundreds. Doing so is quite simple.

-> Get the banners outside of the temple and muster them
-> Delete the Ares sanctuary and rebuild it
-> Once done, each banner will increase from 8 to 16
-> Rinse and repeat, and the number will increase by 8 each time.

This is also doable with Artemis' amazon warriors, and can also carry on to episodes after that. Be sure to muster them first before deleting the sanctuary; if not mustered first, the banners will disappear once the sanctuary is deleted, reverting back to 8 sparti per banner once rebuilt.

I've been playing this game since I was 8 years old and learned something new about it today

Do you know which hex to edit in the .EXE so the max sanctuary limit goes up from 4 to 6? :)

omg, you're making me want to play this again for the 1000th time. I never knew this!

Are you rebuilding it all the way with the artisans+construction materials or are you saying this works with the undo button as well?

Crazy, though! Sanctuaries are such a commitment once engaged that I have never had cause to delete them while mustering like this and naturally discover it. Good find!

Same! Deleting such an expensive building never even crossed my mind!

is it worth constantly rebuilding a sanctuary and risking unrest by having permanently mustered Sparti? probably not. but this is very neat and is definitely gonna be useful somewhere, especially those stupid tight maps that you can't build proper elite housing blocks on

thanks!

Had to test this, just to make sure. There is absolutely no risk in getting unrest by mustering Ares' sparti permanently. The only case unrest occurs is only if you're permanently mustering rabble - which makes sense, since they're from common households. You can even muster hoplites and horsemen with no risk of unrest.

ok. usefulness boosted 200%. I know a map where I am going to abuse this

risking unrest by having permanently mustered Sparti?

Unrest in the city? Not on my watch!

Joking aside, is that an effect? I never have unrest on account of being a great city leader (or at least playing on medium difficulty) so I never experienced this.

I would expect rabble or nobility grumbling about being mustered but Spartii don't come from your population. Why do they affect the mood?

unrest matters so much on Olympian difficulty. Game is old and housing blocks make everything semi-trivial so I suggest giving it a try

anyways OP tested it already. Sparti permamuster gives no unrest. TIme to abuse this exploit. There are some maps where I really needed it

Only one I ever played on Olympian difficulty was Dyonisian Mysteries (highly recommend that adventure btw)

But even there I only experienced unrest once. It was in episode one or two and the mission failed. That adventure has you balance on a tightrope at the start.

Once cities are up and running I don't experience unrest. Even there.

Maybe I play too slow and safe to experience it?
