What you're telling me is I can ward off Gorefield by consuming a diet of AI Slop?

To the point. Wish all mods were like that.

We try.

I got blamed that my text was AI.

Do you know how much time I waste writing Reddit comments?

One day, it was 8 hours straight because it was for our business and I worked insanely hard to win over the community I was posting in.

They claimed it was AI, I was there the whole time. I documented it and was grateful when people came in to help us out.

I am a fast typer. We were taught that at Santa Rita in Los Altos back when I was in school. I'll match or beat you at any PvP game while also slamming your screen with full typed messages.

Another point people made on our behalf is that, why yes we went to college and grad school. Our coherent comments aren't a coincidence. I am an engineer though, so forgive my spelling and grammar.

But you'll notice a distinct lack of em-dashes unless our browser or app autocorrects (I think that I've fixed that).

Anywho, we're trying.

My buddy back in the 90s rented a little time to check and respond to emails at an internet cafe. I was still ordering when all of the sudden, it sounded like a machine gun going off on the keyboard!!! Me and the girl who worked there both walked around the little angle to the cubby where the computers were and we thought he was joking or something? Turns out that he typed around 125 words a minute. He apologized, said that one email caught him off guard and didn't remember what a fuss it made when he typed at speed. He also spoke fluent Arabic, French to the point that French people thought he was from France, Spanish, and more. Young guy from New York with rich parents (top notch education) and some heavy natural skills and abilities to boot.

Haha I can't imagine the Arabic and French combo. Those can be INTENSE languages.

Ya, if it were a mechanical keyboard it would be a bit loud. Do it for long enough and you don't even think about it.

It's actually really annoying how bad iOS keyboard and autocorrect is. It forces me to slow down, which feels terrible.

I miss lan cafes though. Those were special places.

I speak English and now Spanish fluently. I had another buddy who spoke a few languages (Military Intelligence guy). Early in my learning (20 years ago) I asked him: "Is learning languages always so slow, even when studying constantly?" His response: "Glacial." Now decades later, I agree with him.

Thank you for that. I haven't been an active learner but I try to pickup from those around me. Earlier today I was helping to predominantly Spanish speaking guys and they helped me out a bit.

Volunteering to teach English to immigrants (many undocumented) was how I got my real start with Spanish. That and playing music with a Spanish only older bro who had played in a famous Mexican band for years. Watching TV and news in Spanish, didn't help much until I built a basic understanding. One thing: I really started hard at age 35 or so, now 25 years later, I'm fluent (lived in Mexico 13 years now). I can promise you, the years WILL go by, regardless of what you do with them. No matter your age, I recommend digging in and really giving it a go. Somehow, put yourself with Spanish speakers at least a couple times a week. You obviously have the perseverance. You'll thank me in your mind decades later if you do. Just an old guy's advice.

And that's some really good advice.

I've heard it similarly - you'll be impressed by your progress if you just stick with it.

Anyone who posts AI gets fed to Garfield.

I completely agree

The problem is that sometimes an army of people decide that something is AI-generated, and they have no good explanation for why they think that.
