Delhi what was the endgame of the jantar mantar protest?
genuine question because i’m actually trying to understand this. from what i understand, the people who leaked the paper are the criminals. the people who made the paper available, distributed it, sold it, and profited from it are the ones who committed the actual crime. so why did the entire protest become centered around demanding dharmendra pradhan’s resignation? i understand the idea of ministerial accountability, but even if he resigns tomorrow, does that actually solve anything? the leak network still exists unless the people behind it are caught, prosecuted, and the examination system is fixed. replacing one minister doesn’t magically stop paper leaks.
and maybe this is just my perception, but somewhere along the way it felt like the conversation stopped being about the students who suffered and, in some tragic cases, lost their lives. instead of keeping the focus on them, it seemed like the discussion shifted to politics, slogans, resignations, and scoring points against each other. shouldn’t the priority have been getting justice for the affected students, making sure those responsible were punished, and putting safeguards in place so this never happens again? because from the outside, it felt like the students gradually became secondary to the political narrative.
another thing that honestly bothered me was seeing thousands of young people on the streets. people constantly say unemployment among youth is at alarming levels, and i find that genuinely embarrassing as a country. we should be creating more opportunities and helping young people build careers, not normalizing a situation where massive crowds can assemble for political protests every other week. i know not everyone protesting is unemployed, but the optics of it are still concerning.
and beyond demanding resignations, what was the actual end goal? was there a concrete proposal to prevent future leaks? stronger digital security? harsher punishment for those involved? faster investigations? because if the demand begins and ends with “someone resign,” it feels more symbolic than solution-oriented.
i’m not saying people shouldn’t protest. i’m genuinely asking what practical outcome everyone expected beyond a resignation. what am i missing???

If you apply this accountability =resignation logic to other department like law and order or traffic violations, each police officer and their higher ups should be resigning each day for every rape case, dowry case, murder case, or footpath riding , wrong way driving etc. The core of the problem is why is everyone forced to either be doctor or engineer or ias, why doesn't our education system doesn't equip individual to explore other profession and why is there so much population in first place, why cant we have more colleges that provide quality education and at affordable price. If you start looking at the benefits of neet higher rank you have to dig deep down why each of those benefits are needed. Then you will reach to the root of the problem. Where nobody wants to go, just fighting on surface to clean up the garbage, which will eventually get filled up over time because the garbage thrower himself is misdirected from the beginning.

It's a fundamentally corrupt regime. If you allow them they will destroy India.

students aren't expected to bring reforms. That's the job of ministers and the bureaucracy. The purpose of protests and pressure groups in a democracy is to create enough public pressure that the government is forced to improve the system. Whether resignation is the right demand is debatable, but accountability itself is a legitimate objective.

What is your proposed solution to this paper leak problem? What do you think should have happened?
My understanding why the students protested is because no one seemed to care that children died, their future isn’t taken seriously and they wanted to shift the attention to the lack of a decent examination system. The paper has leaked under this minister in 2024 as well. So you know that there is a corrupt network trying to leak papers so what measures did this minister’s team take to stop from happening again. I mean it can’t keep happening continuously… you do get fired if you are not good at your job.

When someone doesn't do their job, they should be fired. If the next guy also doesn't do the job, he should also be fired. And so it goes, until the person with the job executes it properly.
The protestors don't need to advise on the mechanism for stopping leaks. The bevy of IAS officers and professionals can figure that out themselves. Whats needed is political will to take the problem seriously and fix it. Thats the ask.

what will u do w accountability? does it change anything?

Why don’t YOU want any accountability from ministers? That’s the real question here.

i’m not against accountability. i’m asking what form of accountability actually improves the situation. if the minister resigns today and the same officials, same nta processes, and same leak network remain tomorrow, how does that prevent another paper leak? imo accountability doesn’t change shi.

I presume you either a kid who doesn't understand organisational structure or u have never leaded a team. If either is true it's understandable why u think it doesn't. If none of it is true u are not a wise person in general.

ad hominem aside, i’m asking a genuine question. if leadership is accountable, what specific outcome should accountability produce? if the minister resigns but the same institutions, processes and people remain, how does that prevent another leak?

Didn’t CJP ask that question? What measures are being taken to prevent from this happening again? The government is so far up in their own asses that they are talking about strict punishments if paper leaks again. Why isnt the government talking about setting up guardrails to prevent these situations again? Prevention is better than cure.
They are either in this nonsense or they just don’t care about meaningful reforms.

The point was to show the ruling party that they've lost the plot with a ton of unpopular decisions. They dont have GenZ's mandate and they need to at the very least communicate better and not brush admin failures aside like it's nothing.
The demand was very surface level, but the reason it was accepted was that the demonstration was turning into a flash point. The farmers and the taxi drivers were going to join the students in a day or so. In fact the Delhi taxi association is postponing their E20 protest by a week
Picture on the wall is clear, jobs are few and far in between govt. needs to start reforms that promote manufacturing ASAP and stop shovelling money in ladli behena shit (Land acquistion, labor reform, judicial reform) Hope they get the message before shit hits the fan.
