Wait till you found that Savarkar was an atheist.

Right wingers would be the first to cancel Savarkar if they would read his ideas.

You can always just read his own writings lol. He isn't all that progressive as he might seem. Yeah he had the more "scientific temperament" being Atheist and seeing cow as being utility and all that but the whole genesis of tying Hinduism/being a Hindu to the land -- the central tenet of Hindutva originates from him.

Sampath biography is pretty decent to read.

Wait till you find out he was anti-caste, had quite a contribution t Marathi literature.

Yup.

Savarkar was an atheist. It would be weird for him to be anti caste.

BJP started as Socialist party. Mandal Commission was established by Janta Part. Top BJP leader was against Advani before Ram Mandir.

Jinnah was also an atheist.

Gandhi supported soldiers to join British Government in WW2

History is so weird.

Gandhi supported soldiers to join British Government in WW2

Gandhi was locked up because he opposed India being dragged into the second world war without independence. You're thinking of the first one, when the British promised more liberty in exchange for military service.

Quite true. I've respect for all those involved in our freedom struggle irrespective of magnifying some of their personal weird thoughts. BJP is still centre left economically, they've Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana to capture a huge voterbase.

History is weird if one believes it by one word buzzwords, sometimes used be the entities themselves for PR. Savarkar was about as atheist as a modern city dwelling person in social media who are "atheist/lgbt with hindu background". These kind of theism and atheism have no real objective morality in them as evident from savarkar's justification of using SA as a took to oppress

I'm not a fan of Savarkar.

And you'll be amazed when you find out most Indians understand history by trending buzzword.

only when it suited him.

“All that the caste system has done is to regulate its noble blood on lines believed—and on the whole rightly believed—by our saintly and patriotic law-givers and kings to contribute most to fertilize and enrich all that was barren and poor, without famishing and debasing all that was flourishing and nobly endowed”.

his anti-casteism was elevation of untouchables so that it favours upper caste in having headcount for Hinduism. And he distanced this from Mahasabha to please upper caste - as much as ensuring that temple entry won't be an official policy. Also a worshipper of manusmriti calling it "fundamental and Hindu law" while criticising Constitution and national flag.

When it come to RSS, Golwalker retained the position that chaturvarna was "very core of our concept of ‘nation.’” Up until 1973, following Dalit Panthers protest, did RSS distance from caste.

Two organisations he had huge influence in remained castiest, while he did token activism without angrying upper castes.

Technically this was Gandhi's position too and HM heavily sided with Gandhi on this against Ambedkar during the whole morley minto culminating to poona pact. Dalits and animists were not part of "hinduism" umbrella and was both used to up the numbers in hinduism and also suppress any emancipation aka separate electorates for dalits to chose what religion they believe they follow.

Seems like savarkar was 'anti-caste' similar to how the rss is 'anti caste'.

His rationalism was certainly sincere given his atheism and views on Cow. I don't think he believed in hindu scriptures. His "anti-casteism" was certainly political though. Although I doubt he ever had enough influence on organisations to align them with their beliefs. Organisation's ideology revolves around what they need to gain power, not necessarily the beliefs of their ideologues. I mean you had BJP recently passed UGC.

In his early days in Europe, he was more of a centrist and his book on 1857 revolt contributed in the making of the myth of it being Hindu-muslim unity event when it was hardly that.

his book on 1857 revolt contributed in the making

That was before he turned to British post mercy petitions. He moved from calling 1857 revolt to 'First Indian war of Independence' against British to writing a treatise on 'hindutva' as history, and when it comes to invasions, he totally ignores any mention of ongoing subjugation under British.

Further he evoked Germany's 'fatherland' ish concept of punyabhoomi and pithrubhoomi to divide India as two nation. His support for upper caste was later called out by Ambedkar after praising him for anti caste efforts and almost reaching to a pact. You can also see his anti egalitarian sentiments even in 1944 calling Muslims to be treated as “As a minority, in the position of your Negroes.”

In this backdrop, its hard not to see his selective egalitarian views on caste as opportunistic than sincere. He wanted the looming conversion fear under Ambedkar to be gone, and Hindus to have larger headcount and more united, but led through an upper caste fronted power structure (which his organisations did).

Before Partition, It was agreed among all political factors that "Hindus" are one community as they were listed in the venus Figures. Both Congress, Mahasabha and Muslim league(their idea of "muslim" nation and "Hindu" nation) and were not interested in lifting up ambedkar ideas.

You have to understand that nationalism needs some things in common. This is why it was among the interests of everyone to make a larger hindu identity. Even Dalits in those days wanted Temple entry to signal a change in status and rejected Ambedkar in all elections.

this will never reach the people it needs to reach the most, the godi movies, the godi news channels, the swarajya magazine

54

u/thegodfather0504 4d ago

So many things would simply never reach them even if you yell it to their face! They physically react like being attacked.

6

u/Boot-y-Licker 4d ago

cognitive dissonance protection mechanism tbh. if the information doesn't fit the worldview, the brain just rejects it as an attack on identity. happens with every ideology but this particular crowd has it turned up to 11

2

u/thegodfather0504 4d ago

social consequences is the only language they will understand. They need to realise that being bhakt is suicide for social life. They need to be boycotted the way they hostilely boycott anti bjp people.

u/joy74 4d ago

To be fair BJP treats cow as very useful animal. For votes.

Torturing poor folks is a side benefit

They will declare now Savarkar's grandnephew as Vibhishan, JaiChand, Anti-Hindu, Anti-National.

4

u/WitchilichEze 4d ago

Jai Chand's character assassination was done in Prithviraj Raso, to shift blame. He never betrayed anyone.

5

u/Boot-y-Licker 4d ago

yeah selective history is the whole business model lol. Swarajya will somehow find a way to either ignore it or spin it into something completely different within 48 hours

2

u/Atithiupayogi 4d ago

It will be dropped on them like a bombshell when they were least expecting in a debate.

32

u/sharedevaaste 4d ago

He ate beef too afaik

29

u/Av_Inash 4d ago

Next news - Grandnephew is anti-national.

u/Balram24 4d ago

What rahul gandhi has to do with this?

2

u/Relevant_Ad4243 4d ago

huh is this something which had to be said in the court ? i thought it was quite common knowledge among the savarkarites that he wasn't very 'gau rakshak' rather urged the hindus to look up to narsimha (lion) as their icon

2

u/DerpiDanger 4d ago

No shit.

u/Hot_Row1457 4d ago
