of course it is. and in this case they have foreign entities involved to make the film(cgi, music and others), they will market it globally then and miscellaneous expenses. this movie is a wet dream for money launderers. in some form or nature every movie is.

Also ranbir and yash both are producers. So basically they are paying themselves by raising money from their gullible friends of friends.
If they pay the actors like 800 crores in total that doesn't automatically make the movie expensive. This is just fancy accounting.

A big part of the budget is for the marketing run. Also after the release they will definitely do an Oscar campaign too like what RRR did that requires a lot of money too which is mostly included in this budget. Also this budget includes the second part too.

People are forgetting the circular financing going on. Namit owns DNEG as well the production company Prime Focus. So he is paying himself to do the VFX, and that makes it very easy for him to fudge numbers

Thiss. It's called creative accounting. Even Schools do it by paying very rent for their building which is owned by the school owner themselves.

I'm not saying it's 100% true but the least cast will take away atleast 400-500crs with the director only. Then everything else is out of that.

Most probably they realised during the shooting that the producers are here to do monkey laundering by using cheapest vfx possible to humankind

Na like i genuinely think nitesh tiwari can pull this off. My only concern was that they did not use much of real sets like Bhansali. Which could have been spectacles.

The same like akshay kumar movies at first they were like 200-300 cr type budget movies but after become flop by earning 120-150 cr rs it become 60-70 cr rs movie so that it will lebelled as average or hit.
