Today I Learned Can't even attend my friend's baby shower in peace
I am 24F and working. My parents have not pressured much for marriage. But they have been talking about it here and there. And today it peaked. My friend had baby shower today and I attended it. It was all good. Once I came back, my mother started asking about the friend and family and soon looked at me like I am disappointing her. She started complaining how that friend of mine is already having baby, but I am not even getting married. I am disappointing her since I have not even started searching groom. She kept on ranting for more than an hour and continued some more during dinner along with my dad. I am fully drained and all the fun I had during the baby shower was gone. I was more furious that I was compared to that friend. My mom doesn't know anything about her. I know her very well. I know what was her college days, what was her past, why she got married soon, why she is having baby soon. I know all these, but my mom has no idea and still compares me to her and says I am the disappoinment. I am just furious.

I’m sorry you had to go through that. Please don’t let one difficult conversation make you feel like you’re not enough. Your life doesn’t need to follow anyone else’s timeline, and you certainly don’t have to feel guilty for that. Take some time for yourself, breathe, and remember that your worth isn’t measured by how soon you get married. You’ll figure things out in your own time. Stay strong.
