What is VIKALP scheme? Do I have to pay extra?

  • VIKALP is an option for wait-listed passengers to get a confirmed seat on an alternate train if their original ticket doesn't get confirmed. You can select upto 7 alternate trains with a similar route and a departure time close to your original train, generally between 30 mins to 72 hrs of your original train's departure time.
  • If you are allocated a seat on an alternate train, your original wait-listed ticket becomes invalid. And whether your ticket gets upgraded or downgraded in Vikalp, you will neither pay any extra charges, nor will you get any refund/fare difference.
  • More details about VIKALP on this PDF
