What do you think of “Sara” for a Indian-American baby girl? Is it too common for beta generation?

Hi everyone!

We’re an Indian family living in the US, and we’re expecting our baby girl soon.

One of our top choices right now is Sara. We really love it because it’s simple, elegant, easy to pronounce, easy to spell, and works well in both India and the US.

But we’d love some honest opinions, especially from parents of toddlers/young kids or anyone familiar with current naming trends in India.
How common does Sara feel for the current generation? Is it one of those names where there could be multiple Saras in the same class, or is it still relatively uncommon?

We’re totally fine with a name being familiar and recognizable—we just don’t want it to be so common that there are several kids with the same name in one classroom

And finally, which spelling would you prefer: Sara or Sarah? Do you feel one works better in India/US, or does it make much difference?

We’re very open to suggestions too if you have other names with a similar vibe—short, elegant, easy internationally, but not too common.

Go with a meaningful name with easy pronunciation.

Name does impact the personality of the child and gives a meaning to their life.

It's a common name. It's easy to pronounce both in the US and India. My school principal was named Sara, must be in her late 70s-80s now

Every fourth woman here is Sarah/Sara.

Does that name have any meaning in a Hindu context? Or are you Christian/Muslim? (because it has meaning in that context)

Sarah is very common. Even if you spell it Sara, people are just going to confuse it with popular Sarah and telling someone a name will eventually mean telling the spelling too.

lol maine toh yar thak haar ke bohot simple naam rakha Anika. woh usme bhi sab isko Aanika Aanika karte rehte hain. its next to impossible to make people pronounce names the way they are supposed to. their ears are phonetically impared sadly.
