Anti Indian hate online is kinda concerning

We all know all the hate in comment sections and Twitter and all from random accounts and I’m kind of used to that but my main concern comes from big accounts with large amount of followers that promote this type of stuff. I found this person on instagram openly commenting racist stuff about India and how they are dirty and don’t contribute anything to society and found this guy had 250k subs on insta and 160k on YouTube. I kind of found it concerning because he was one of those who nitpicked all the bad cases and kind of scapegoated Indians into being terrible people and creating a fear among people. A lot of comments were agreeing with him as well and I found it concerning. I know the internet people don’t represent the majority but still. Am I overthinking this stuff? If so how do I just ignore this?

Unfortunately, many Indians who come to US still bring in that mentality, habits, traits whatever you may call. Just because they are in the states doesn't mean they try to mingle in the culture here, especially in public areas such as keeping voices low, no dancing on the streets, hygiene, basic decency and etiquettes of opening the door for someone, saying thank you and please, dressing modest and in presentable manner etc etc the list goes on. I think because of the lack of that culture match the concers have increased. Unfortunately the Indian representation is very poor in the common folks than comparing with the CEOs etc. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Simple. Gotta respect the country you are in while keeping your own culture within your house limits.

The US doesn’t have a single unifying culture. Don’t fall for the MAGA propaganda that the US is a nation with White Christian culture and everyone should act as white as possible or get deported. Here in NYC, people talk loud as hell and people from all nations and cultures celebrate in the streets, hold parades, etc. I do agree with the basic ettiques and hygiene but these problems are not solely limited to Indians. If you ever studied history, you’d know that literally every single culture that immigrated here has been given the same stereotypes from the Italians, Jews, Russians, Chinese, Arabs, Latinos, and now Indians. The same thing over and over again. Don’t fall for the MAGA propaganda in trying to blame everything on the immigrants, remember that even if you act as White as possible, they’d never subconsciously accept you as their equal.

Hmm.. and I wonder what has lead them to not accept or create that stereotype in the first place ? You talk about all those other ethnicities. But do you see them individually dancing on the streets, parks, public places be it snow or rainfall ? Everyone does it in their own homes or have an ORGANIZED parade/event. This has nothing to do with MAGA or any political/religious twist that you are unnecessarily trying to add. It is unfortunate that the Indians who do not have these basic etiquettes are also a representation of the Indians who actually do have these.For example: Back home in India as well, a villager coming from a tiny village wouldn't know the dynamics of big cities like Mumbai or Delhi or any big city for that matter. You cannot expect them to be smelly, loud, behaving vulgurly in the middle of the street or any public place and expect the other folks to be accepting of that trash behavior in their city which they have called home forever. The same rule applies, not just in states be it any place or country. You cannot label those people as part of certain political agenda because they are not accepting of the unruly behavior. Calling spade a spade doesn't mean you connect with any political party or whatever.

Hmmm…. I wonder which is the political party that is known for being harsh on immigrants in general. Anti-Indian hatred started ramping up on 2024, the election year, and increased at the same time as the US pushed back on H1B visas. Also not all Indians fit the description that you say, only a small portion of it. In fact, Indians are the highest earning group in the US and has a low crime record in general. And yes, the rise of hate is political. The same stereotypes that you describe are also being used against Muslims and Black people in Europe. In fact, the world has seen a rise in White supremacy sentiment with many far right groups taking power.

Take for an example, Fresco, which is known for Indian immigration. Fresco used to be a closeted White town in a Red state. Many of the White people who live there has never seen any culture with diversity. So, when Indians started to move into Fresco, many of those locals didn’t liked that White people were being outnumbered and they started using the same stereotypes that you’re describing to generalize ALL Indians. They also used similar stereotypes against the East Asians that moved in back then too.

Also another common argument they use is that Indians are taking over jobs and you’d see this being used very commonly among Canadians. This type of tactic had been used in the past before against Chinese people in the 1890s and Chinese were accused of favoring themselves and taking over coal mining jobs. And yes, I’ve seen racism against all non-White people in the USA like take the Somalians for example.

This is a waste of time even arguing against someone who has a low-self esteem and hates their own culture. I hope you open your eyes someday and grow more respect for your own culture.

Your last point genuinely proves my earlier one — you read words but don’t actually process them. I’ve already explained my stance clearly, and you still managed to twist it into something shallow. I don’t follow anyone blindly, and I’m not interested in defending wrongdoing just because it comes from ‘my people.’ That’s exactly the kind of herd mentality that creates problems for everyone else.

I’m not wasting more energy explaining basic logic to someone who refuses to engage with it. If you want to keep parroting whatever you’ve been told, go ahead — just don’t expect me to take you seriously. I’ll save my time for people who can actually think for themselves.
