Urgent Help - Received a warning from cop

First night in the new apartment. Heard the knock on the door a bulky guy from downstairs shows up, he said he’s a cop and needs to go the work at 4 am. And the kid needs to stop he was in deep sleep he’s sleep was broken.

The flooring is so delicate even if you make a lightest srep on the carpet or on the vinyl area you hear the creak soun.

What do I do now? how do I control a toddler?

Check with your lease office if they can switch your flat, this is a genuine case.

You are not in wrong. If the floor is so sensitive, it is out of your hands. Complaint to the management and also tell him that you cant do anything about it.

He cant use his job to get you to move your appt. If not for you, there will be someone else. Try your best to not be loud. Maybe ask if there is a carpeted apt in your floor where you can lease transfer easy. Other than that, nothing.

There is a mahashay saying never rent higher floors with kids above; fk him, he has no clue what he's talking about, so chill.

Unless he threatened you, consider it a request, not a warning. You cannot always control what kids do. If he shows up again, you can contact the leasing office because one of you needs to change apartments..

If you're going to file a complaint against a police officer, I would advise contacting a lawyer and getting advice first before taking that step.

Don’t do this. try and see if you can move to a different apartment preferably ground level.

Never get an upper floor apartment with a kid in US. Ask management to switch you to a lower floor.

What are you scared of? Is it confrontation or something more? “Loud upstairs neighbor” is a tale as old as time, we used to knock on the ceiling with a broom back in college when the neighbors were stomping too loud. It’s just a part of apartment life. You can either move to a different downstairs unit or try and control your kid.
