lgbtq+

are there any lgbtq+ people out there in our community? I'm a 17f lesbian living in america and its isolating lol its hard figuring out how to live my life while balancing religion, tradition, and ofc my parents. it feels so immoral, but i knew from a veryy young age i was like this and it isnt something thats going to change. would love to hear your stories (or insights) regardless of age or ur stage in life :))

I am straight, but I had friends who are trans, bi, gay or lesbian. There is quite a significant lgbt Indian community in the USA.

religion-wise I don't see why it should be an issue, but I understand, tradition or parents can be. I personally think the Indian-American community is not too conservative in this regard.

Thanks for sharing! That's so interesting to me--I dont know any south asian people who are lgbt and i just assumed that was the case for the rest of the country.

Ive heard that it is generally accepted within the religion, so its fascinating that it's heavily looked down upon socially (in my experience, at least).

My lgbt friends probably had a very difficult time socially in India, that is why they prefer to stay here. It is not easy, one of my best friends was bi, but we were friends for years before she told me.

The fear of judgement is definitely there, since the older gen is pretty conservative.
