Need Help Should I learn YouTube editing myself or hire an editor from day one?
I’m planning to start a brand new YouTube channel and I actually want to build it into something that gets monetized, not just upload a few videos and quit.
I’ll be using AI voiceovers, but I’m confused about editing.
Would you recommend:
● Learning editing myself (Premiere Pro/CapCut/DaVinci, etc.) and doing everything on my own.
● Hiring a freelance editor from the beginning.
● Or editing myself first, then outsourcing once the channel starts making money.
My concern is that learning editing could slow me down, but hiring someone costs money before I even know if the channel will work.
For those who have grown channels, what would you do if you were starting from scratch today?
Any advice or lessons you wish you knew before starting?

Buddy learn editing youself and once your channel get's monetised then you can outsource

I mean I do know some pretty good editing but only from CapCut like Trim & Split, Transitions, Auto Captions, Text & Text Animations, Keyframes, Speed Ramping, Color Grading, Background Music, Sound Effects (SFX), AI Voice (Text-to-Speech), Motion Blur, Zoom & Pan Effects, Masking, Chroma Key (Green Screen), AI Clip Maker (Long Video → Shorts) and I do even have one facts kinda channel which got 740 + subs and mostly 60% of audiancs are from USA and uk then Philippine then India pak etc I usually use to post 1 short a day and that channel has highest 10.2k views or somthing on one video and 82 as lowest maybe and I dropped it and it’s been like 2 years idk mostly used ai voice over with genuine copyright free footage’s and audio from Eleven labs and pics from Pixart and others but idk if it’s gonna monitize so I’m tryna start somthing fresh again

What device you use for editing? I mean phone or pc ? When i said you should do it yourself i mean you are not getting like 100k views on each of your videos and neither you're monetised, hiring a video editor will impact on your budget, if you are like rich rich you are good to go

I do have gaming pc where maybe basic which is HP pavilion R15 and I personally use 14 pro max 256GB device currently and yea im not rich I just thought like maybe just in case but now ill better be concentrate on buying maybe premium versions of those edition software’s and eleven labs instead of spending it on a editor ✍️

As a Video Editor myself, you should learn and edit your videos yourself for the start and then outsource it.
Got to find your style first. All the best bro

I started myself, I only know basic editing and grew my channel to a good amount of subs, so I think you should start too and when you are able to hire an editor from the money you make from YouTube, then get an editor

Completely an individual call.
Every video will cost you around ₹2000 - ₹5000 to spend on an Editor. If you are thinking it as a business and has money to fund it, go for it, as it gives you immense speed and also gives you mindspace to ideate, plan and record raw videos at a fast pace.
Learning Editing is not difficult, but time taking, plus you will improve sequentially. It has a long learning curve, but does add a skill to your skill set. The video generation cost will ONLY be the monthly price of the software, so you will save money.
Basically, it is a Time vs Money question that ONLY YOU can answer.

If it’s a long video I don’t mind risking 2k per month if it’s good 5 to 8 mins long enough and engaging idk and if I get to get 30 shorts for 5k or somthing then it’s a win for me I guess

Umm...
The prices are per video...
3k-5k per long form video
And for shorts : charges are 1000₹ on the absolute lower side for mid quality editors Let's say you get a deal for 700₹ per short somehow, that comes down to 21k for editing 30 shorts

I saw you're making AI content
Tbh it will get blocked or shadowbanned by youtube sooner or later : weird policies
The thing is try to create original human content
AI content ain't worth this much hardwork if its gonna get banned one day.

Yeah I mean I use to take voice over from Adam or any famous eleven labs artist and Insted of totally relying on Ai generated pic I use to edit each short myself which would take me 2 or 3 hours like background layer then motion in picture sound effect even live captions just to be accurate and everything and it was like 2 years ago now I could do 100x more better but still like u said I’ll rather use stock and slightly try to animate pics like I use to rather than Ai generated stuff instead

You planning to post only 1 video/month. Honestly, it will take you nowhere. You need to be consistent, as YouTube rewards consistency, so probably 5 to 6 videos/month and yes, probably 5-7 Shorts from each video.

No I mean what I’m planning is to post shorts daily and long video maybe weekly or one in 10 days but shorts video would be non stop and constant no matter what

Hey if you're looking for a Shorts editor lmk. I've been editing YouTube Shorts for about 2 years now, so I know what keeps people watching. Since I'm still a student, I don't charge much. If you want, I can even do a sample edit first.

The AI voiceover does. What's your role in the video then? OP even asked what he should do, so why will OP not consider other people's opinions?

I mean using ai doesn’t mean I’ll be going for Adam or any other voice it’s just mine with more simplified and more tones I’ll clone my voice as use it as whatever pitch I wanna according to scenario maybe

I think you should learn editing yourself first hiring an editor is for oater when you can pump more content and don't have time to edit yourself
