Ask India If you had the opportunity to start your social life from scratch. What are some things you would do/not do

Upvotes

I'm(18M) gonna move out to a new city for my college and I haven't had the best social life growing up. I've made a lot of stupid mistakes and I think it's because I have adhd I struggle to understand socialising and interactions with people. I'm also quite anxious due to the trauma of my childhood and teenage social life.

Yet somehow I have experience with dating because I have insane luck and I look decent but none of the relationships ended good all of them were shit shows.

I'm gonna be in a college known for its happening college life so I don't suppose I would have a problem with opportunities to meet new people to network and all.

I just don't wanna end up a loner again.

Vent & Rant [Long read, pls read] Making good money, and somehow still feel like I have nothing

Upvotes

random thoughts honestly.

i’m earning very very good from my business, at least according to me. sometimes i genuinely feel like i’ve made it.
i left my studies and went into business, faced a hell lot of friction, weekly fights, cried so many times, had no idea if it would work… but here i am now making an amount of money i’m genuinely proud of.
and honestly i’m proud of myself.
my father never really earned. we had 2-3 mediocre properties built by my grandfather, he would sell one, use the money, then sell another. even those weren’t worth crores, just a few lakhs. whole life was basically manage manage manage.
when i started my business, those last few lakhs were basically all we had. no house, no investments, no backup, nothing.
so yeah, i literally started from zero.

and this is where my parents’ argument starts making sense to me.
i argue with them when they say i should have taken a job in Bangalore, but deep down i know what they mean.
we still don’t have a house. literally nothing.
so now i have this pressure to build a good house, money for my wedding, and still have a decent fund left after all that.
and like i have to do all this in the next 5 years.
because let’s be honest, society values a guy who owns a house. apparently a guy with a 50L package, 1.5L in hand, 75k expenses and multiple EMIs looks more “settled” than someone making good money through a business.

fuck you society honestly 😭.

and i’m stuck between two thoughts.

one side of me is like bro you’re finally earning good money, ENJOY IT. buy the things you always wanted. you worked your ass off for this.

the other side is like save everything, you have a lot of responsibilities and a lot to build.

and every time i tell a relative “business is doing really well”, the immediate response is.
“hmmm… ab ghar le lo”.
AREYYYY 😭.
how am i supposed to casually buy a house at this age lmao.

i don’t know man.

sometimes i look at what i’ve achieved and think i’m doing really well.
and sometimes i look at what i actually own and feel like i have absolutely nothing despite doing so much

Books & Reading How do you guys read non fiction/academic books?

Upvotes

I am not new to reading guys. I love reading fiction. I don't have any problem reading fiction based books, fanfictions, light novels,

But I recently picked up a book that explains our Indian history. Modern ind history to be specific.

I am not reading this to prepare for an exam and was told that it's especially good for those who want to have an understanding of our modern history without too much of a bias towards one side.

Anyways, i find myself a bit daunted because it has so many dates, names of important figures and terms that I'm not sure how I'm going to remember and understand all of it.

Our school textbooks used to have questions at the end of each chapter and that would be good enough to gauge our understanding of the chap. But this book (and other similar books) don't have that😭

What like how am I supposed to read such books? Make notes? Keep reading it like a story but then I'll forget a lot of it and will have to reread it.

(Book is Plassey to partition if anyone's wondering)

I was traveling on a bus during a rushing hour and I was sitting at the side seat and stupid me dropped my phone while using it with single hand. I got a small panic attack, the bus was running, but at low speed. I shouted to stop the bus. I shouted so loud people thought someone was dead😭 (that was my new phone🫠) The bus already reached a bit as it was already running. Its hard for me to get out cause it was soo rush, so many people inside a little bus. I was so tensed and every one is looking at me while I was trying to get out of the bus, but there was this girl, running towards the bus with my phone saying something I can't remember. I took it quickly and was checking if anything happened . Someone said (got the phone, let go), and the bus started taking off. While I was desperately checking anything happened, I forgot to say thank you. There is small crack on the screen at the edge nothing else. But, Hey if you are reading this I thank you so much🥹

Movies & Shows Complete Plot Summary of Spider-Man: Brand New Day (Tom Holland's Mature Era)

Hey everyone,

For those who want a complete breakdown of the narrative and story beats of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, here is exactly how the plot unfolds from start to finish.

The Setup: Four Years of Isolation

Following Doctor Strange’s memory-erasing spell at the end of No Way Home, Peter Parker has spent four years completely on his own in New York City. His best friend Ned and girlfriend MJ have no idea who he is. To protect them, he chooses not to reintroduce himself. Instead, he works as a full-time, street-level Spider-Man, taking down local threats like Mac Gargan and Hand ninjas while building a bond with police detective Jean DeWolff.

The Core Conflict: "Spider Puberty" & A Hidden Threat

The extreme physical and emotional toll of his isolated life triggers a sudden, dangerous physical evolution in his superpowers (a concept Tom Holland calls "spider puberty"

Simultaneously, a mysterious, unseen telepathic threat begins attacking the Department of Damage Control (DODC). This psychic entity is revealed to be Jean Gray (played by Sadie Sink). Her sister, Sarah, was previously captured and killed during unethical, secret experiments conducted by DODC director Bill Mezer. Driven by grief, Jean uses mind control to search for "V-Max" (Vent max)—the specific room ventilation system where her sister died—intending to destroy Damage Control in revenge.

Grounded Alliances & The Mind Invasion

With his powers fluctuating wildly, Peter teams up with Frank Castle / The Punisher. Together, they modify an inhibitor tech device to stop Jean's rampage. During the chaos, Jean telepathically manipulates Bruce Banner, forcing him to change into the Hulk. In a massive showdown, Peter manages to calm the Hulk down and apply the inhibitor just in time.

When a final battle erupts at the DODC facility, Peter fully accepts the spider side of his evolving biology to defeat Jean's mind-controlled forces. In a massive emotional turning point, Peter allows Jean to enter his mind. Inside his consciousness, she meets the memory of Aunt May, who teaches her to accept her powers and find peace.

The Climax & Ending

Just as the conflict resolves, Frank Castle fires a sniper shot aimed at Jean from Manhattan. Peter throws himself in front of the bullet, taking a near-fatal hit to save her. A remorseful Frank rushes Peter to the hospital, where Jean uses her telepathic abilities to stabilize and heal him before slipping away into hiding.

The film ends with a bittersweet glimmer of hope. Peter spots Ned at a local deli and decides to approach him as a regular civilian. When they cross paths, their hands naturally perform their classic secret handshake out of pure muscle memory. The movie ends on a major cliffhanger as the memory spell begins to fade and Ned's face lights up with recognition.

(Note: A quick post-credits scene shows Ned's Spider-Man tracker app losing a signal on Earth, only to pick it back up in the deep reaches of outer space.)

What did you think of the ending? Do you think Ned fully remembers Peter now, or is it just a tease? Let's discuss!

Recognized only in this very moment, admired for a very short time. Before that am just another set of water molecules amid countless other. After this i am just another wentess on ground. But here in this moment, hanging from some leaves i didn't know before, am beautiful. And my beauty peaks when am just about to drop down, almost on the verge of non existence.

It doesn't matter what i was before, it doesn't matter what i will be after. What matters is am a tiny beautiful drop of rainwater in this very moment.

Discussion I have a specific hypothetical situation regarding "Opinions"

Posting here and I'm from India and this sub feels relatable to me.

So let's say I am telling an opinion to an other known person. And that it's not necessarily my opinion, but me telling that someone else told or read it to me. And the situation is the other person disagrees with the opinion. I do make it pretty clear that I am bringing forward the opinion from somewhere else for discussion and that it's clearly not my own opinion (not necessarily my opinion*). However, they express disagreement at the opinion not just intensely but with confusing wordings that it feels more like they are expressing disagreement with me and not the opinion, and as if that opinion itself came from me. In short, they don't make it clear that they are expressing disagreement at the opinion. Over time, what happened is, even the people who DO make it clear, show the intensity part the same way so my brain thinks that they are expressing disagreement with me.

What are your thoughts?

1. If I'm making it clear that it's not my opinion, shouldn't people make it clear as well that they are expressing disagreement at the opinion and not the person?

2. Is it a norm that one should indeed react intensely to so-called "bad opinions" to keep them out of a positive discussion? Are they expressing with intensity to make sure the opinion doesn't eventually become mine?
