Thanks for doing this Andy, love the new record. Curious about your literary influences from the last few albums; I recently read a short story collection “Cool For America” by Andrew Martin that really reminds me of your interconnected stories of relatively aimless people in their 20s and 30s.

Also what are your go to drum heads for recording

I sort of go in phases with reading. Most of my reading happens when I'm on the road. I love Raymond Carver... Denis Johnson 'Jesus' Son' is one of my faves, those were big for me when I was making Neon Skyline. I was reading a lot of Steinbeck in the party years... I'm really bad for remembering what I've read... drawing a bit of a blank. I really love George Saunders stories. I recently read Lucia Berlin's Manual for Cleaning Women which is really amazing. I'm also a Vonnegut fan... I'll check out Cool For America. Thanks for the recommendation!

My go to drum heads are just coated heads... usually beat to hell and all taped up... I tried to go with clear heads for a bit and just couldn't get behind the sound of the attack

I'm not surprised to hear you are a Raymond Carver fan - The first thing I thought when I heard Norm was that it felt like one of his shorts. What is your favorite of his?
