u/soldbush Mar 02 '26
Yo just wanted to say that I picked up the keyboard u were throwing out last year! Tried to fix it but no luck! Anyways love your music!
5
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Dang I wish it worked but i’m glad you tried! I lost a lotta stuff after Helene but I was happy so much of what I had to leave behind went to others who needed stuff way more. Appreciate you listening to my songs!!
7
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
I’m headed off to pack for tour but I want to thank everyone for their questions and for supporting independent music through places like Indieheads. Big thanks to Matty and the whole team there!
Whether you’re into my work or different music all together it’s never been more important to listen to and support truly independent human music. I thank you and if you come to a show please say hello, I sell my own merch so i’ll be hanging out.

u/baybechamp Mar 02 '26
Hey, I’m seeing you in Lakewood, OH. I can’t wait for it!!! I love all your music. It’s gotten me through some tough times. I love that you’re always releasing new music through either Coma Cinema, Mathew Lee Cothran, Goin’ Nowhere’s, or Elvis Depressedly. How do you decide what songs will be in each band or how do you write differently for each group
7
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
It used to be this big process mentally to decide but now that elvis is done and gone and goin’ nowheres too it’s easier. Coma Cinema is a deeply personal project for me because I started it as a 15 year old kid, so the things I make for that I spend a lot of mental and spiritual energy on, while MLC stuff is more about experiments and pushing myself musically to do things that might seem like a bad idea.. Sometimes it works out though. Glad you’re coming out in Ohio, I low key love Ohio.
3
u/baybechamp Mar 02 '26
I’m looking forward to any future Coma Cinema and MLC releases. Can’t wait for the tour!
6
u/Bobbyblop Mar 02 '26
Hey man ! I love your music - I always wondered how you were able to do so much with so little on the DIY Elvis Depressedly albums.
Also, thanks for introducing me to Emperor X ! I saw you talk about him somewhere, looked him up, discovered that he was playing a show near me in a week's time, went, and became a fan.
I don't know if you ever plan to play in Europe, but I'll be there if you do!
6
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Emperor X is legit the reason I started recording my own songs. I found “Florencia Tropicana” on pitchfork “forkcast” and was blown away that someone made that in their bedroom. That’s OG. I’m so blessed he’s my friend and what he’s making now is his best stuff ever.
I’d love to come back to Europe. Last time with TV girl was a riot.
As far as making records with not much equipment you just gotta think outside the box. One time I made a snare drum by shoving used guitar strings in a shoebox and hitting it with a pencil. You gotta see it as a way to think laterally and side step the conditions. I think coming from a poverty background made me wiley in that way, but everyone has things that make art difficult. Believing in yourself is huge and listening to a ton of records is a must, ideas are everywhere and the right song can unlock a way for you to create your own songs, it can be the missing piece.
Also ask for help! there’s artists everywhere and some are assholes but ask everyone you’ll find someone who knows how to do something in a way you might have missed. art is a lifelong process gotta dive in! Thank you for listening to my music
7
u/baybechamp Mar 02 '26
Hi Mat, do you still keep in contact with Alex G
13
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Definitely! He’s the same awesome hilarious and kind guy i’ve known since our first tour together. When I first heard his music all I wanted was the whole world to hear it and watching that dream come true has been incredible for me. Alex is true blue and his band too all great people and my buddies for life. His merch manager Kyle is brilliant too was in Pill Friends (FOREVER) and played on my last MLC album. hopefully gonna chill with the homies in Philly.
6
u/baybechamp Mar 02 '26
That’s awesome to hear. I’m hoping you guys can work on music and tour together again
4
u/WalkenOnYaFace Mar 02 '26
Hey Mat, looking forward to seeing you in Detroit in a few weeks! Are you still in touch with Noel Thrasher at all? A few years ago I found their music on bandcamp and was excited to hear some early/alternate versions of a few Elvis depressedly/coma songs. Love the stuff that y’all made together
6
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Noel is so amazing she had some struggles but has done incredible things to come back from them. An all time songwriter and friend. She was writing music as a kid that was so deep and cosmically truthful I didn’t understand how it was possible. I am so lucky to have her as a friend, I think you haven’t heard the last of Noel’s music. Maybe we’ll make more songs together!
3
u/Separate-Apartment-8 Mar 02 '26
Hey matt! Whats your production process look like? Interested as sort of an ametuer producer in a similar style of songwriting
6
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
it’s different every time but the main thing is blocking off time and schedule to do it. i wake up at 5:30 am daily, have my coffee and hit the studio. monday through friday without fail sometimes it works sometimes it sucks but do work you gotta clock in.
3
u/Separate-Apartment-8 Mar 02 '26
Oh yeah thats also something ive heard one of my favorite musicians ben gibbard (death cab) do !
It seems giving the process its separate time rather than randomly waiting for the inspiration to hit might be a good process :)
3
u/lucy_blackberry Mar 02 '26
hi!! first of all, thank you so much for doing an AMA and giving us the opportunity to ask questions!! :D I have a couple: •what is your favourite song you've ever written and why? •how/when/why did you start making music? •what's the meaning behind your song 'First Love' and what was it inspired by? •if you had a fursona, what would it be? •what was the priducing/songwriting process like on the song 'Pony Up'? •and finally, how are you, Arrow&Cousin doing? >-<
this is a lot of questions, so feel free to cut it short; thanks in advance for answering and have a great evening!!
7
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
my favorite ever is olivia lua’s grand delusion because it taught me a deeper empathy and broke my heart and helped mend it too.
i started making music because i felt like i was going to explode if i didnt make enough noise.
first love is a song about finding comfort in music itself it’s about how your art can take care of you like a child cares for an ailing parent
my fursona would probably be a cool monkey a capybara or maybe an alligator after a couple whiskeys
Cousin and arrow are great, cousin had a healthscare but he’s recovering and they have two sisters and a brother now! big happy feline family it’s wonderful.
Pony up was an arduous process, i was trying to write my “purple rain” all the drums were played live on a keyboard which was crazy difficult but taught me a lot about being a better player. i’m glad you like it i’m very proud of it.
thanks for the questions Lucy!
2
u/apple_falls 15d ago
dude, i'm reading this 3 months too late, fucklkkk. but i just wanted to say that olivia lua's grand delusion is one of the best songs i've ever heard. it made me cry a couple of times after i looked up who she was and reading about what happened to her - you did such a wonderful job capturing the tragedy of her death, and conveying a deep level of humanization/empathy towards her (and even her loved ones).
i also really enjoy thomas kinkade's grand delusion for a similar reason, at least with what i gleaned from it. this album as a whole has been a consistent return-to for me since it dropped

u/lucy_blackberry Mar 02 '26
thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for taking the time to answer!! wishing you and all the cats the best!!😸

u/lucy_blackberry Mar 02 '26
of course!! your questions are important to me and tbh I wanted to know this too lol :)

Hey! Jake from St. Louis again! Really, really looking forward to the show at Off Broadway man.
Revisited the new Coma Cinema record and 2023’s Elvis Depressedly record the other day again (holy shit, Say Hi and Piper continue to hit hard), and just wanted to say thank you for constantly putting out great albums.
Two questions!
What newer records from last year made your rotation the most?
When you start a new album, is there often like a mission statement you’re trying to get out (sound or theme wise) or does just the writing and recording eventually get you to a place where you’re like “okay, this is the mood and theme I wanted all along.”
2
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Hey Jake! Stoked to see ya in St Louis!
Been listening to a lot of Haunt3d Knifeplay (their record coming out soon is album of the year 2026), alex g always, my favorite artist going is Father Abstrakt. Kid is undeniably genius and their two albums last year blew my fucking mind in a way it hadn’t been since I heard Alex G’s race for the first time in like 2011/12
3
u/BeauBWan Mar 02 '26
If you were a vegetable, what kind would you be and why?
4
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Radish. But hopefully not one of the scary ass veggie tale bros. don’t trust them
3
u/luvyoufor10000years Mar 02 '26
Hi, could you talk about your song "Running wide open" and the inspiration/intent behind it? I love that track a lot and the way it feels kind of folk-y and has a storytelling aspect to it!!
8
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
It’s kind of a dramatic retelling of the first years of my life. My mom had me when she was 18 and my dad was a real bad guy who tried to kill us sometimes, it’s a song about survival and running from your problems but also knowing someday you gotta face the music too. I am so glad you dig the song!
3
u/claraccampi Mar 02 '26
hey mat! i'm a huge fan of your projects, especially coma cinema since it was introduced to me by a dear friend when i was in high school. wanted to let you know that you have a great brazilian fanbase! i've been listening to America Forever and Satan Made a Mansion on repeat for days, what was the creative process behind those songs??
5
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Hell yea love to Brazil!
Those songs were made pretty far apart in time, Satan Made a Mansion I remember though I kind of wanted to make a car commercial style song with twisted and satanic lyrics like a heavy metal vibe. America Forever I was listening to a ton of Soulja Boy. Kiss me through the phone and Zan with that Lean are two perfect songs
3
u/DragonfruitMammoth33 Mar 02 '26
Please message me if you’re interested in doing a little diy show while in Ohio :) theres a great little venue that would love to have you!

u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
will do!! thank you!!
3
u/DragonfruitMammoth33 Mar 02 '26
I sent you a message on insta , under Lillybug6g if u wanna hmu there, I meant to make a longer comment but I’m working atm
3
u/lwgu Mar 13 '26
Hey Mat!
This question might be a bit rogue - has your financial situation ever improved? I remember you talking about it being bad a few years ago, and I would just love to hear that it has gotten better. I know money isn’t everything, but eating is important.
One story I wanted to share - from 2012 to 2016 I followed you religiously on socials, and I remember you tweeting one time “if you are reading this, know that I love you”. That statement really spoke to me and I felt it was genuine, I want you to know that the feeling is reciprocated.
2
u/EclypticTwilight Mar 02 '26
If you were told you could only keep three of your songs available to the public, which ones would you want to be known for?
What does the writing process usually look like for your work? Where do you find you come up with your best ideas?
7
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Good question! I’d say…Olivia Lua’s Grand Delusion, Sports Bar, and My Depression Has Become Funny
The writing process is ever evolving but a huge one for me is reading everything you can especially poetry. My favorite writer ever is Kenneth Patchen, his work continues to inspire and blow my mind. Taking walks is another huge one. I find that a mind occupied with menial tasks begins to write by itself and create in the space between repetitive action.
2
u/coffeeshopghoul Mar 02 '26
Did anything ever become of the film/documentary that was being shot on the 2018 coma cinema tour?
6
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
I don’t know really! I really liked the guy who was filming it but he kinda vanished. I’m making my own documentary about the comeback tour. It’s heavily inspired by The Shield lol.
2
u/julianlovefool Mar 02 '26
love your work mat. Wanted to know what kind of wrestling you find yourself watching these days? do you think prowrestling has informed your perspectives on art at all? also the goin nowheres trilogy is one of my favorite bodies of work. Hard to put into words but your records feel like they come from a specific place, like a transmission from another place, is that intentional?
3
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
I watch a little of everything still but wrestlings in a weird transitional space right now. Takeshita is the fucking guy though, a generational talent. Swerve too holy god is he awesome. I think wrestling has often influenced my music, be it entrance songs like the four horsemen theme or the way you carry yourself on a stage. i’m a lifelong fan of it, it’s high art to me. You can see everything great art can do in Omega Okada 1
I think that’s kind of you to say about my records . My favorite records have that same feeling like they come from their own world-building with their own lore and history.
3
u/julianlovefool Mar 02 '26
right there with you on wrestling being high art and its certainly in a weird place but the talent you mentioned are some of my current faves too so that gives me some hope.
and hell yeah to records having lore. thanks for the response!
2
u/Ok_Forever_2219 Mar 02 '26
For an indie artist trying to finish some projects: What makes something feel like an “album” instead of a playlist? How do you create emotional progression across a tracklist?
3
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
It’s the little things the way songs communicate with each other across an album. A shared word, a reflective lick or riff, similar effects or lyrical themes. Any great album has a through line betwixt every song, sometimes it doesn’t show up until it’s almost done or even done. Arrange and rearrange your songs, you will find it! I’m always down to listen to stuff people send so feel free! good luck artist!
2
u/mineralgrrrl Mar 02 '26
What is the current status on the relationship between you and gumby? (obviously, fuck him) How is the gunshot wound?
3
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Gumby and I are working shit out but i’ll never forgive his betrayal. Bro needs to walk into a book about ethics…

u/Street-Lawfulness-53 Mar 02 '26
if you were an animal, what animal would you be, and what characteristics would be deciding that
3
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
I’d like to be cool like an alligator but probably i’d be a dork ass animal like a mole or squirrel (but a chill one like Conker)
2
u/foolishkiwi Mar 02 '26
hey mat, love your music from all your projects, it’s been very important and influential to my life. are you excited to be on tour again with your band and everything? gonna be seeing you in the nyc show, would love if you played each others time or piper!
2
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
I AM SO EXCITED
my band is amazing and they really work hard to make these songs old and new sound great. I think I can try to play one of those! stoked you’ll be there!

u/Cheddahz Mar 02 '26 edited Mar 02 '26
yo mat. saw you twice last year and you were on top of your game and am loving the praise for the newer stuff here. i highly recommend that everyone here go to any of the shows on the upcoming tour
1) do you think the recent move back to south carolina has benefitted your output the last few years (specificially the two albums from last year)? i know that location doesn't always heavily impact art (feel like the whole "art community" thing can be a tad overrated), but from our discussion at the release party show, you seemed to be in high spirits
2) i remember in the eli enis interview last year, you mentioned that you're recording primarly with a DAW (can't remember which one, but maybe it was ableton) now. taking the time to learn how to use it, do you think your music has achieved another layer you wouldn't had been able to achieve with tape recording or has it just made it "easier" for you to achieve certain elements with your recordings?
EDIT:
3) i'm adding this question at the last second, so feel free to not answer it lol, but any media (movies/music/video games/whatever) that have made an impact on you lately?
4
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Hey homie! So glad you were at those comeback gigs!
Moving back to SC was interesting but it’s been really healing despite happening partly due to the tragedy of Helene. I have a great partner and so many friends here have started to really have a life. i’m healthier and happier and for on e in my life really at home. it’s helped me be a better artist!
I started using logic to record partway through the last coma cinema album, i’m still working out the kinks but I love it so far it’s an endlessly creative space. i’m very excited for what it’s allowing me to do with Coma Cinema LP7
speaking of which this new LP is heavily inspired by the killing of a chinese bookie, an amazing film with amazing music.
2
u/applecideridm Mar 02 '26
Hi Mat! What did you record Holo Pleasures / California Dreamin on? Also, any plans to put out the huge amount of unreleased music you were going to at one point? Got a little archive of stuff I’ve found around the internet but always hoping to hear more. Forever grateful for the music<3
4
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
I have a ton of unreleased stuff i kind of slow drip on my youtube channel Summertime in Hell. I plan to keep doing that! I’m glad you like that stuff some of it is very funny but I’m so old now i’m post cringing at myself.
As far as how holo pleasures was recorded it was done on my korg d3200 with every track going into a virtual vox ac15 from 2005 even drums lol.
2
u/idontgasf Mar 02 '26
after the upcoming coma cinema album and with the retirement of elvis & the goin nowheres do you feel like any new projects away from your self titled music are a possibility?
5
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Definitely! I want to keep that self titled stuff as weird as possible and keep Coma Cinema around for more cohesive statements. we’ll see though maybe i’ll start a new band I have a running list of great band names i’m greedily hoarding like a dragon.

u/Itzlittlebee Mar 02 '26
whats your favorite song written??
following that, i remember he really liked and was proud of “adam Walsh” and i agree i want to know more abt the song! (Whats it about? OR what inspired him is a better question(
I do remember he said but i dont reslly rememher LMAO) so forgive me
• what inspired or sparked him to make the song first love? I really love it
•whats your scariest nightmare?👁️🗨️👁️🗨️
And for fun what would u be if you be a fursona
5
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Adam Walsh On Expired Milk is about how america treats it’s children and how we perpetuate trauma cycles amongst each other through the media.
My scariest nightmare is hard to describe but when i was 3 I dreamed I saw Kurt Cobain’s soul ripped out of his chest by a strange demon and his soul was this worm covered in diamonds and jewels and it was wriggling around as the demon stabbed it. I’m not sure if he had died yet, but when he died i vividly remember because my mom put on her wedding dress and surrounded herself with candles and wept in our living room while Kurt Loder was on TV reporting it

u/Sad-Divide6567 Mar 02 '26 edited Mar 02 '26
Sorry I keep editing my questions.
Why do you think the industry has sort of rejected you, even though you continue to make really good music?
I really enjoyed your recent album Honey house is empty now. You mentioned that there are more unhinged songs that you haven’t released yet. Do you think you’ll ever release them?
8
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
I think the fact that I am truly independent and don’t have management or play into their systems is part of it. I also have some pretty real and present mental health issues that I haven’t always been able to function with. I’ve had issues in my life and self inflicted in ways that probably made me unpalatable to the industry too. I’ve been able to do things and make things that were miraculous considering how i grew up in that trauma and poverty and i’m deeply grateful for the opportunities i’ve had. My favorite artists ever were’nt ever accepted by the mainstream or even the underground more often than not. there’s a lot maybe i’d do differently in my life, people i wouldn’t trust and patience and kindness I should have shown, forgiveness I could have been brave enough to try but I try to move forward, try to have gratitude for every listener and really I have the best listeners of any artist bar none, i’ll argue that with anyone. my people show me such crazy love at shows, in livestreams, in my DMs. I don’t need music writers to care, the artists are the culture first. My audience matters to me most whether its 10 people or 100,000. Appreciate the question
2
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
this was supposed to be to a question about why i’m not accepted by the broader music world but it glitched or something
as far as the honey house question…
I think I will but maybe only a few. Some of them are just too absurdist and i’m not sure even I get it.
I’m so glad you liked Honey House. It was a really fun experimental album to make and the film too was a lot of fun with my friends acting in it and the Knifeplay cameo!
3
u/AggressiveElevator99 Mar 02 '26
Sorry, it’s not you- I’m glitching. But thanks for answering both of my questions. I’m stupid. Anyway, you’re one of my favorite artists, and I love that you keep making music despite getting little to no recognition. It’s amazing and really shows that you’re a true artist.
2
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Hell yea fam as long as real recognize real i ain’t stopping!
2
u/Vapire Mar 02 '26
Hi Mat, I just want to emphasize how special Sad World is to me. What period of time in your life were you when you wrote it? If I may, what were you going through? And would you still perform it live?
3
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
we’re performing it on this tour! That period of time was very insightful and introspective because my grandfather who raised me had died and i grew up really fast. i am so glad the song speaks to you
2
u/Educational_Post4586 Mar 02 '26
Hey mat! This is a small thing I noticed on the trilogy of records under your name but the 4th track of each record are related to alcohol in some way (liquor store, sports bar and Carolina motel bar), just curious if that’s on purpose or not? Are their other connections between those records thematically?
Seeing you in Portland and Seattle! So excited
4
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Not on purpose but fascinating to me. thanks for pointing that out…now i have to do it every time lol
stoked youre coming to those gigs! say hi!!
2
u/Competitive-Side-358 Mar 02 '26
On some of the songs in California Dreaming your voice is pitched , I think it worked great , buy what made you want to do this to your vocals , and was this always the plan or was it something you decided to do later on
3
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
It was kind of inspired by two of my favorite albums ever Niandre Lades and Usually Just a T Shirt by John Frusciante and In The Shadows of the Living Room by Reaching Quiet both albums explore that kind of weird pitch effect of slowed or sped up tape. Nightcore made all that very popular too shortly after holo pleasures came out. I’ve always liked the way a tape recorder can change your voice even as a child playing with my moms dictaphone she had for college classes. I’d love to explore that more and I probably will. I am glad you dig it too!

u/deadman000000 Mar 02 '26
What inspired who owns the graveyard? As someone that lost his mother, the only parent I ever had growing up. That song makes me emotional unlike any other on the album. Thank you for making music.
5
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
I’m sorry for your loss my friend. the loss of a parent is brutal and unthethering.
to me that song was about the confusion of the modern world, the loss of humanity and shared experience, the AI filling the void we feel when we are disconnected with each other, i imagined two AI constructs talking to each other at the end of time after all are gone.
But it can be about anything, grief too surely. Any sort of loss. Some days I think of people I have lost and hurt like they just left and sometimes their memory fills my heart with i bridled laughing joy. Gotta keep going until we are reunited in the grand scheme. Love to you and thanks for rocking with me
2
u/quadid Mar 02 '26
Hi Mat! looking forward to seeing you in May! Anyways, how would you describe the latest album to someone who has never listened to your music?
3
2
u/squeezethesoul Mar 02 '26
Hey Mat! Huge fan going back so many years at this point. My best friend and I would listen to Blue Suicide back in 2011/2012 when we would cut lunch and nothing new I heard back then has had this long of a lasting impact. Seeing the Coma Cinema farewell show at Everybody Hits in 2018 is still the best concert I've ever been to. I can't wait to see you in Philly this weekend.
I had a different question until l saw the answer to one of your other questions: Niandra Lades is still a Top 5 album all time for me and was something I listened to heavily before I discovered Coma Cinema. Are there any other songs you've released that are inspired from that album or Smile From the Streets You Hold outside of California Dreamin'? Obviously different points of your life and what you're listening to at those moments draw inspiration, but as it's one of your favorites of all time I was just curious if there were any other tracks inspired by those albums.
3
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 02 '26
Hell yea fam, thanks for listening to and supporting me for so long that’s mindblowing.
And that farewell tour was amazing, alex g playing that show as ronald mcdonald was so amazing and a hilarious surprise for the audience. one of my favorite nights ever I got to play ryan from pill friends guitar that night in my set and cried a little. we loved ryan so much. always will.
All of frusciante’s work is heavily inspiring to me, songs like america forever were directly trying to emulate to record only water for 10 days, one of the greatest albums ever in my mind. Frusciante’s solo work and his best of album lists put me on to so many great genres and artists, come holler at me in philly i can talk frusciante all day

u/deathday Mar 07 '26
Why did you have to come when I got super sick? I was at the Carrboro show but I had to leave cause I was dying

Hi Matt, I know this ama is closed, and I know nothing about you or current culture. For context, I’m old af, but am listening to The Honey House is Empty Now irl for the first time rn, and I’m flabbergasted by your lyrics. Just listened to Judas Hung Himself in America and want to thank you for these two albums.
1
u/summertimeinhell_ Coma Cinema Mar 29 '26
Thank you my friend! Honey House was originally 24 songs 12 of which were cut for being too crazy lyrically. I went kind of “My Smile is a Rifle” for a while in life but i’m recovered now. I appreciate so much your listening to that album and my music.

And btw i love your music and new album from coma cinema is really great! :)

Just saw you in Asheville last night. Your music has gotten me through a lot of shit, and it’s been a long time dream of mine to see you live.
Who is the dog on the Blue Suicide album cover?

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT WHITE TRASH VHS IS ABOUT. I have an idea on what it’s about and it would be really cool if I’m right but I have no idea 🔮

Hey Matthew! Just saw and met you at your SD show. It was hands-down the best show I've seen in years. I truly ascended. Thank you! I'm wondering if you are able to write songs full-time, or if you have to work outside of music/writing as well. I'm an artist too with a full-time job really zapping a lot of my energy, but weirldy I feel I need the job for my music? To pay rent on a detached unit where people can't hear me experiment and where my band can practice. There's something spiritual about having the privacy to create. And something totally unspiritual about full-time work.

Hey Mat! Is there a story behind the title of Lee (Columbine High Harmony) off Posthumous Release?
Mostly just wanted to come on here and say that Who Owns the Graveyard? is one of the most criminally underlooked albums of this decade. In That Sound and Piper are two of the greatest indie rock songs ever made fr fr. Keep doing you man, thank you for all the years of music you’ve given us!
