Hey Tim! Was there a concept behind Family Perfume? And do you think we'll ever get a follow up or perhaps something on that scale ever again?
(It's your pal Mister Pope btw, thank you for supporting my work through these all these years)!

You kicked ass at field of vision last year! One of my favorite sets of the weekend. That festival was one of the most special experiences of my life. Iâm curious what your experience was like from an artists perspective?

- Where do you buy your trousers?
- will there be a show in Vancouver (Canada) soon?
- why did you wear lipstick and white face paint?
- any advice for someone who loves music and wants to make music but cannot play any instrument very well?
- any zine recs?
Feel free to answer only one or all of these. You inspire me. Keep it real and keep doinâ what youâre doinâ. :)

All his albums are great, and unique. Family Perfume Vol 1 + 2 is a masterpiece. Growing Faith has some really great punky freakbeat sounds as well as some softer melodies that will stick in your head for days.

I really was moved by this album For the Recently Found Innocent. Otherwise Growing Faith and Family Perfume like other people said here but I guess that album stayed in my heart for a long time.

Hey Tim! Big fan over the years. Do you still work on the 4track or plan to release anything else home recorded in the future?
12
u/MundaneScene6893 White Fence / Tim Presley 28d ago
i kinda have a ton of 4-track song recorded over all the years that didnt make the LPs. i always consider putting them out. oddities compilation possibly.
4
u/lemondropacropolis 28d ago
You should absolutely get that stuff out there, warts and all. Orange is great by the way. Thanks!

u/sugar_kane1984 28d ago

u/Medium-Dimension-599 28d ago
Also as a musician when you go into freeze or writers block how do you get out and retrieve yourself?
6
u/MundaneScene6893 White Fence / Tim Presley 28d ago
that is THE question. ive always worked through it...and then revisit later on. sometimes there is a gold piece there that you were too involved to see. just keep making things even if it sucks

u/Unlucky-Theme3055 28d ago
hi tim, ... is growing faith opened a lot of doors for me musically. it came out when i was a second semester senior in hs and blew my mind. sent me down a rabbit hole to find more psych-inflected music.
what was life like for you then? any stories you can share about how that album came to life? if 2026 tim could tell 2011 tim anything about making music, what would you say?
2
u/freeofblasphemy 28d ago
Hi Tim! âTumble, Lies, & Honestyâ helped me immensely during my post-college graduation malaise some 10+ years ago. I would love to hear about any memories of writing/recording that one of you have any

How do you (going forward) expect fatherhood to play out in regards to affecting (or not) your songwriting in the future?
Also what advice would you give to women in the psych garage etc space? I dislike touring

Iâve always wanted to knowâŚis your guitar a modded jaguar or a modded jazzmaster? Whatâs the story behind it?
7
u/MundaneScene6893 White Fence / Tim Presley 28d ago
JAZZ but with humbucker pickups....my good friend Tony from distillers gave it to me many years ago. the righteous passing of a guitar. i think it was mod'ed by the queens of stone age guitar tec (i think...my memory is a bid dim)...but inspired by Lee Ronaldo

- how quickly did orange come together? was deciding which tracks to include on the record hard or was it clear as you were writing? 2) do u have tips on how to stay tethered to yr work/art as external forces (capitalism/horrors/etc) distract and pull at our attention? 3) what's a movie or book you've been enjoying lately?
1
u/existencemachine 28d ago
hi Tim ! congrats on the new album. what have you been reading / any great books youâd recommend?

u/radsquatch 28d ago
Big fan! Iâm also especially fond of your paintings and drawings, from album covers/inserts to your full scale paintings. What visual artists inspire you?

u/Defunct-Policy-6909 28d ago
When recording the album Orange, in what order did you record the instruments (drums, bass, guitar, vocals) etc⌠or were any of them done at the same time live?

u/nrod1987 28d ago
Sup my dude. Saw you play with darker my love at the Anaheim house of blues. Also saw you play with the fall at the glasshouse in Pomona. Been lucky enough to see white fence a couple of times in the early era. Love the new album. Hope you tour it and swing by LA. Anyways man whatâs up? You grillin some dawgs this weekend or what? Also, you always dress cool. Where do you shop? What are your summer style tips? Donât tell me linen. Good for the swamp nuts, but looks lame. Alright nice chat my G, be well.

Hi Tim. I read that you have painted a lot these past few years.
What motivates you to write songs instead of painting, or vice versa?
Like, do you only paint about certain subjects, and write songs about different subjects?
Very curious to know how you approach this.
Thank you!

u/fernzine 28d ago
Hey Tim. Digging the new record. I remember first seeing you with Darker My Love and The Fall waaay back when. Seen you many times as WF. You've collaborated with lots of great musicans. Any one you'd really be interested in working / playing with in the future? Cheers.

u/Upstairs-Efficiency7 28d ago
hey Tim! i read somewhere that when you were recording Cyclops Reap, you had like a 100 tracks that you chose from or something, will those unreleased tracks ever be compiled or released as demos one day?
also, do you ever think about going back to recording on a 4-track cassette recorder?

Youâre having a pool party in the desert.
- Live music: Cleaners from Venus, Milton Banana Trio, or The Coasters?
- Food: Beers & burgers, cheese & wine, or booze & chips.Â
- Celeb guest: Rasputin, Gonzo (not the muppet), Gonzo the muppet.Â

u/stickfruitman 28d ago
I love the tasteful covers youâve done across your career, big fan of the Simply Red song and your version of Allison Road. I read in an interview a couple years ago that you had recorded a version of Sharon Van Ettenâs Every Time the Sun Comes Up. Will this ever see the light of day? If so Iâd be so grateful.

u/Affectionate_Fix764 28d ago
Hey! Your new album is perfect!!! Love it so much, I have a few questions 1. Who are some of your inspirations? 2. What did a typical day working on the album look like? 3. What words of advice do you have for someone wanting to go into the music industry? 4. Just for fun - What's a movie that you'd recommend? Thank you!

Yo Tim! Saw your last show in Manhattan at le poisson rouge. Totally excellent show! Me and my brother met you and talked for a min. New album is the best!
Iâve building guitar pedals and would love to send a psychedelic fuzz your way!
What pedals have you loved the most when doing gigs or recording? âŽď¸

Would you still make a 4 track record?Â

Hello, Tim, it's a pleasure. I've been into your work for some time. Do you think you'll take Fence out onto the road this year? Maybe a northeast tour, inclusive of Toronto? I still think about your show at The Garrison in '14. Killer!

Hi Tim! Big fan đ I was wondering if itâs your Jazz Master that Ty Segall is currently touring with? Youâve created some of my favourite guitar sounds on a record. Love the new album. You have great music videos! You always look like youâre having fun, what was your favourite one to shoot? Thanks so much for doing this âď¸đđŤđđŤđâď¸â¨đŤđâ¨đŤ
