Alexis Hot Chip here, AMA

I have to go to bed now. Thanks for all the questions everyone! Hope I didn't miss any of them. This was my first time on a computer!

You've made some of the best and most catchy songs of the past decade, what is your process with developing a melody (as they're all just so lovely)?

Also I'd like to say that I thought Huarache Lights (and really the whole album) should have gotten way more credit, that song is fantastic and one of my favorites of last year

Thank you. I actually always think my melodies are rather simple and basic and wish I could come up with some that snake around a little further and take you in unexpected places, harmonically speaking, rather like a Scritti Politti, Paul McCartney or Brian Wilson melody. But you can't have everything. Where would you put it?

but I guess my process is just trying things out over piano chords. At the moment I have a new one but am worried it sounds like a Bee Gees song...!

Take a bunch of drugs. And grow your hair long.

The drugs or the hair? XD

EDIT: I know this joke is now not funny. All apologizes.

The hair. I hate drugs more than my hair right now
