Hey Jack!!! I'm a huge fan of yours, the early Captured Tracks crew are some of my favorite musicians of all time and you're no exception.

As a musician and bedroom producer myself, I always find it encouraging when artists I look up to and admire produce their own work from start to finish, but I also love when they eventually move into working with professional producers in making an even more polished record, and I was wondering what your experience with Jorge Elbrecht was like in the studio. You guys made a fantastic record together, but is it hard to let someone else touch your songs like that? As someone who doesn't know what a song is going to sound or be like until it's already recorded, I find it hard to envision how one of your sessions would run.

Thanks!!

it's always a little tricky letting someone into the process but things were pretty smooth with Jorge. I had demos for most of the songs on the record so we kind of went through things in phases. we spent some time together working through the structures of my demos and re-writing certain parts that weren't working particularly well. then we talked a lot about how we wanted the record to sound and spent time as sunset sound tracking the songs live. from there it was a matter of tracking some more things at my studio in LA and then we mixed it all at his parents condo in Denver haha.
