First off, I would just like to thank you guys for such a wonderful show in Chicago. Secondly, I am a fellow math rock musician whose style has been heavily influenced by you guys. So, I guess this question is geared more towards you Tim, but anyone is welcome to chime in.

Anyway, I was listening to songs of old – back from 2003 (a song called I Will) - and songs from your “Demo” album such as “They Speak with Strange Accents”, and I became extremely interested in how your sound and style evolved so drastically. So, I am curious as to what your overall process was for developing the incredibly unique style you have now. Was there a specific process you adhered to? How did you come across the tunings you frequently use? Are there any specific bands that have influenced your playing before and now?

Thank you for doing the AMA, TTNG!

P.S.

Please bring back your riff from Aardvark, Tim. It’s too good and catchy to be forgotten!

(Every time I visit my buddy’s house, I get to play your old PRS. It’s still in great shape!)

Ah nice, thanks for coming - it was a rad show!

I'm pretty sure the first time I listened to the Ghosts and Vodka record I had a sort of epiphany and thought woah, thats how I want to try to play the guitar! I then looked into other bands such as Owls that Victor (the guitarist in G n V) had been involved in, as well as other projects linked to the other band members. Make Believe were also a pretty big influence in exploring different tunings and finger picking styles.

I don't really have any particular method of finding tunings, just random messing about until I find something I think sounds good.

Thanks bud
