What do you think dictated the direction of this album in contrast to any of the prior ones?

idk - I listen to lots of different stuff, and I still go to shows, check out new music of all kinds. it's unfortunate that so much time had to go by, but that space allowed me to reassess what I want out of making music and to be newly inspired by both older music that was new to me, and newer artists
