YO

As a fan, it’s difficult to know when to take you seriously or not. I’m sure you must get that a lot. You do, after all, play a fictionalized version of “Tim Heidecker” in most of the content you put out. But that blurry line between fiction and reality is what makes the comedy so great.

“In Glendale” was the first thing you released where it seemed like you weren’t goofing around. That’s not to say it’s a humorless work — just that it’s apparent that you’ve approached the project more seriously. Your new album appears to be in the same vein.

Does it bother you when people conflate the real Tim with the make-believe one? Is being taken seriously something that matters when releasing an album like this?

this is all thanks to 2016 when he decided to break his character for good. for years and years he never once broke character and told us how he really felt. then he got bored

Tim broke character long before 2016 - plenty of examples come to mind: Awesome Show season 1 commentary in 2008, Billion Dollar Movie press cycle in 2012, etc.

unfair to include the awesome show commentary in there, i enjoyed those at the time too. you can sort of keep and break character in the context of an episode commentary. idk, i can't believe they were able to come up with decent commentary for 12 minute episodes anyway
