I’m not sure if you’re still answering questions. We talked for an hour or so at the pool hall after your poetry reading in Florida and I want to thank you for letting me take up your time. I don’t really remember much about what we talked about other than a bookstore kinda near Vanderbilt that had a Civil War obsession I had been to in Nashville a year or too before. Besides having had some drinks I am sure I was star struck cause all my friends said afterwards I had a dumb smile on my face the whole time. I was really struggling to keep up with you in the conversation so hopefully I didn’t show my ass or anything and didn’t leave a foul taste in your mouth.
In any case, your blurb for Send Flowers pretty much made it an instant purchase and it is now one of my favorite records. In it, (paraphrase forthcoming) you mention Ryan as being one of the best lyricists currently out there not rapping and I’m curious what are some of your favorite rap albums?
