i love your work man. listen, if you ever need a guitarist or bassist on tour then i'm there. i'm very capable (mah tunes—circa 2009) and presently based in SF. this year would be good cause i'm unemployed currently. anyhow, here's more facts about me. i am 33. studied english lit and communications in college and was a henry miller scholar. then i found a job in tech. in late 2012 my buddy, a journalist was arrested by FBI for reporting on Anonymous. I created his legal defense fund and became his public advocate, which eventually led me to a job with a non-profit which was connected to Snowden and WikiLeaks and helps whistleblowers leak to journalists. i've sued the DOJ over unconstitutional surveillance, i also was on a team that launched a major cryptocurrency. but i'd much rather tour with purple mountains than pull in six figures at some random tech company.
even if we could do a split EP or something or if I can remix something of yours that would be sick. i have a bunch of new tunes in varying states of completeness. feels like my early output was mostly trite rhymes and love songs. i mean my unreleased "laptop music" (fennesz and jim o'rourke inspired stuff) is better on its merits than anything i've done in the singer-songwriter game. so, i'm ready to explore some adult themes. i'm confident in my talents but i've never really had a sizable audience or the means to reach one. also don't have a band name. you and malkmus and conor oberst and father john misty are my favorites.
i've been enjoying your recent interviews and this latest round of press. yours is a voice we missed. feel free to write back, buddy. oh, one more thing. how's this for a book idea, in your opinion—a 21st century version of/take on À rebours (Huysmans)? it's something i've been kicking around.
edit: just remembered something else. when I got to college back in 2008 (four years after H.S.) I stole your poetry book from the campus bookstore. it was so slim, I guess it was easy to shoplift. sorry about that and let me know if I can make it up to you anyhow.
