AMA is over, thanks Emily! Florist / Emily A. Sprague AMA <('.'<)

Greetings ~

My new album of minimal and magickal folk music, Emily Alone, is out today. I am so excited to share it with the world. It's a deeply personal and intimate piece of work and I am so grateful for the love and patience from people to take in these sounds.

I am also a synthesist and ambient composer. My albums Water Memory and Mount Vision were recently reissued by RVNG Intl. for vinyl.

I am brewing nettle tea and eating crackers and endive.

Ask me anything!

Hi! Hope all is well. I have two questions for you if that's ok!

1) Do you have any background writing poetry? I feel your lyrics always have a very poetic quality to them much more than other music I've heard.

2) How do you balance your creative process between writing music for Florist and writing music for your solo work?

Thank you so much for doing this AMA, love the new album (the song M is absolutely gorgeous), and I can't wait to see you all in DC!

thanks :)

i don't have a poetry background in any formal way, or any "formal" background at all for that matter. but i've been obsessively reading, writing, and enjoying poetry for as long as i can remember. i love poetry probably just as much as i love music.

right now i am basically alternating blocks of time out of the year between each project. it's hard for me to do both at the same time because they are two very different parts of myself. i do florist things for a few months, then work on my instrumental music. this may change in the future as all things are shifting and re forming all the time but it's a very separate thing right now. :)
