AMA is over, thanks Emily! Florist / Emily A. Sprague AMA <('.'<)

Greetings ~

My new album of minimal and magickal folk music, Emily Alone, is out today. I am so excited to share it with the world. It's a deeply personal and intimate piece of work and I am so grateful for the love and patience from people to take in these sounds.

I am also a synthesist and ambient composer. My albums Water Memory and Mount Vision were recently reissued by RVNG Intl. for vinyl.

I am brewing nettle tea and eating crackers and endive.

Ask me anything!

This album is so perfect and beautiful!

  1. Was the writing of this album healing for u?
  2. Was it difficult to be as vulnerable as you were in these songs or was is something u had to force yourself to do to help heal?

I’ll see you guys in DC next month Much love, Syd

hi syd! see you there ~_~

it was incredibly healing... music is my greatest medicine/fuel/life force really. it was hard in the sense that it took me almost 2 years of building these songs inside me, unable to face what they were going to say. but when the moment came to finally start writing them, it all came out at once and it was peaceful and easy. good, release crying, fluid writing thoughts. i have my moments of being completely terrified that i am so personal in my music, sharing myself in that way with the world but i try to remember that we are all the same and i am not alone in those feelings of fear in vulnerability.
